Where are my files?

Thread needs solution

I need to restore some files which haven't changed in years.  I have a daily incremental backup set up, with a full disk backup every 30 days.  When I look back through the dates of my backups I can see the dailies, but there is a one-day gap where the full backups took place.  How can I see and recover files from the full backups?

Also, when I Search for a unique file name which I want to restore it appears, on a given date.  When I go to that date and examine the location where the file was found, I don't see it.  Is there something about unchanging incremental backups that they only show when a full backup is done?  If so, this goes back to my first question.

Thanks for any help,

Gerrit

Gerrit, see KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.

Using the above process, you should be able to open any of the Full backup files and use Copy & Paste controls to copy any specific files or folders to another location locally.

Steve,

Thanks for your quick response -- you are golden in this forum!  I hope Acronis is paying you handsomely.

I tried this though and no joy.  The files still don't appear.  It takes literally minutes to display the contents of each folder, too, perhaps because the backups are in another network PC USB drive.  I will try again and report if I can make this work.

Gerrit, all the MVP's are just experienced users like yourself, not paid by Acronis!

Another option for finding your files if you know the file name or the hosting folder, is to use the Search files option in the Backup task drop-down menu, assuming the backup is listed in your ATI application panel.

Well, we sure appreciate your help!

I have about 80 random files I need to restore, all from the same folder.  When I search for one file, it takes literally minutes to find it, and I can't make it stop searching once it is found.  I could theoretically do this one by one file, since I know the file names I need, but that would be excruciating.  I should be able to see the contents of the folder, but for some reason nothing appears in that folder for the date when an individual file was found by searching.

OK, I'm getting there.  I see that there are .tib files which are much larger than the others (also with "full" in the filename), which are my monthly full backups.  I'm able to see their contents much faster than when I examine the incremental dailies, so I think this will give me what I need.  I will report here.
