What upload speeds are you getting for Acronis Cloud? Mine is very slow.

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm creating a system partition backup for the first time and uploading it to Acronis Cloud. But I'm noticing that the upload speed is very slow.

  • The upload speed isn't influenced by the CPU setting in TrueImage application (currently it's on high).
  • I'm backing up from an SSD and the computer has an i7 processor
  • I'm getting around 20 Mbps and my connection allows for 150 Mbps.

Here is the test that I've done (Acronis server in Germany):

. ., welcome to these public User Forums.

I would suspect that you are getting a better upload speed than many users in these forums, myself included and definitely have a superior broadband service!

The Acronis Cloud servers are certain to be load-balanced to try to give all users an equal opportunity to upload data without any single user being able to hog all available bandwidth, so I suspect that there is some throttling going on in your case.

If you need to have much higher upload capacity then you will probably need to upgrade to using one of the Acronis business products such as Acronis Cyber Backup with cloud storage.

Steve,

Thank you for your answer. The speeds that I have are pretty common in Europe.

Currently, I'm running a trial version to see whether I should invest in the "Advanced" plan or just buy the "Essential" edition and then back up to Onedrive.

The other issue with the online backup that I have is that I'm not able to actually download it so that I can restore it using a rescue media.

If I understand correctly, online backup can be restored only while we have a system with the Acronis installed?
There's no way to restore the online backup by first making it locally available to be used with the rescue media?

If you are considering buying a subscription edition of ATI 2021 then I would not recommend going for the 'Essential' edition which in all honesty (IMHO) offers nothing that buying the perpetual license 'Standard' edition offers and which the latter doesn't need to be renewed year on year!

Here in the UK, I have not seen any broadband options that offer almost equal upload & download rates.  My own ISP offers me 100 Mbps down but only 10 Mbps up!

ATI doesn't offer any direct support for uploading to any other cloud providers such as OneDrive so you would need to find a method of achieving this yourself without encountering other issues due to the new .tibx file formats used in ATI since the 2020 version introduced them.

Cloud backups can be downloaded in a zipped format from the Acronis Dashboard pages but this is something I have never tried myself.  I only use cloud backups for testing in my MVP role, this is not my primary backup destination!  My backups go to my local / external and NAS drives which would always be my first choice for any recovery operation.

Cloud backups can be recovered from the Acronis Rescue Media used to boot a PC provided you have a reliable network connection that can be established in that environment, and your cloud subscription is maintained.

Thanks again,

After examining the online dashboard I found that only archived files can be downloaded and not system backups.

I find it much more convenient to have the backups sent to Onedrive and then download them when I need them.

So, a standard/essential edition would be the best option for me. Acronis cloud isn't flexible enough for my needs.

I am late to this conversation, however the upload speeds you are seeing is the best I have seen reported for a long time.

Ian

Those speeds are a lifesaver for using online storage options. I moved much of my hard drive contents to Onedrive and Dropbox.

But just as an interesting note, local providers here are offering 2.5 Gbps Down,  500Mbps Up for 30 USD. Speeds up to 10 Gbps are available for household customers in less developed parts of Europe too.
