Acronis causing system to crash?

Thread needs solution

We are using True Image Echo Server for Windows 9.5 to back up a Windows SBS2003 server (just the server and not the workstations) to an external USB HDD

Over the last couple of days we are getting an error "Cannot read data from disc" and the server crashes.

I find it difficult to believe that a backup program could cause such an error, so what else could it be?

 Hello David!

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue, I really appreciate it. I entirely underdtand how inconvenient the situation is, and I will be glad to help you.

I have carefully checked our internal resource and found no mention of such known issue in our database. So this situation requires investigation.

if the issue is Acronis related, then it could be caused by some mess in the low level drivers. it can be resolved by updating them.

Please download the latest version of SnapAPI drivers, run the installation and select the "Disable Logging" option. Please note that this SnapAPI version relates only to Acronis True Image Echo product line.

The update should resolve the issue. Should the problem remain, please gather the following data:

  1. Crash dump
  2. Acronis Info from the problem machine

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
