No more network after making a backup
Hi!
After installing XP and all the other things, I decided to backup my entire C: drive, where the OS is and appz are.
EVERYTHING was working fine, surfing, network, etc.
After restarting the PC and running the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager, and making a backup of my C: drive, I found that my network card is no more under Device Manager, and therefore, I can't acces my network!
First I thought it was some problem with the card (onboard) or with the cable, but I did this in two computers (hows hdd were cloned) with the same result.
Strange isn't it ?
Any help!?
Thanks in advance
Oscar

Hello Anton, thanks for your reply!
It's very strange! Because, I've been using this App for years now, and NEVER had such problem!
And the weird thing is, that this Pc and brand new!
Just to try, I've done this in another PC (like de others), and unfortunately, the same result...
I also use the original HDD in the other cases, but it recognizes no network...
Will try reinstalling the OS.
Thanks

Hi Oscar. I would have to concur with Anton. If the network adapter turely did disappear from Device Manager is sounds like a hardware issue. I would try two things:
1) As the computer is booting go in to the BIOS on the mobo and check to see if the On Board LAN somehow got disabled.
2) In Device Manager right mouse click on the computer and "Scan for Hardware Change"
It sure sounds like it has to be there somewhere. It would be a truely odd coincidence to have two on board network cards go completely out at the same time. My bet is that it is there somewhere...

Hi,
Ok, now I've network. Apparently, disconnecting all the wires from the PC from about 10 minutes works...
Justo to try and see the pattern, I did it again with other PC and happens the same.
Everytime I make a backup, the same happens, just have to unplug everything.
@ Jim: I did both things at the first time.
It just solved itself!
Crazy thing. May be is wrong something with XP...
Thanks for the time people!
Cheers from Argentina!
