Is 0.75 GB/hr bsck up to Acronis Cloud normal?

Thread needs solution

Hi

I recently bought ATI 2015 and decided to backup the whole PC to Acronis cloud.
The estimated time came back at 35 days for abot 750 GB of data over two drives,

I thought this was a tad slow and probably a niscalculation.

Last night ATI 2015 backed up 5.3 GB over 7 hours.
About 0.75GB/hr or about 0.2MB/s

My maximum upstream speed is 2MB/s.

When the backup is running devices conected to the LAN via WiFi can't access the Internet and the PC running the backup has the same problems as well as running programs very slowly.

Is this normal?

Is there anything I can do to speed up the backup?

Cheers

Steve

You say your maximum upstream speed if 2MB/s, did you test it with DSLreports or some similar tool?

Most ISPs express speeds in terms of megabits per second not megabytes per second.
So your maximum upstream is most likely 2Mb/s which is equal to 0.879GB/h.

Hi Pat

Thamks for your comment.

I made a major blunder with the units!!

It's 2 megabits per second Mb/s and not 2 negabytes per second MB/s.

I got this upsteam figure from SamKnows which I've just joined.

The figure osis based on the time for 3 concrrent uploads over HTTP.

Hi Jory

You're right.

I made a major blunder with the units. 2megabits per second Mb/s and not 2 Megabytes per second MB/s.

Thanks for spotting this.

I still don't understand why uploading to Acronis Cloud affects the ability to access sites, for instance BBC news, which steam live programs.

Have you any ideas about why this happens?

Cheers

True Image is using your entire upstream bandwidth. You'll need to adjust your backup options to limit True Image's network connection speed so that your other applications and devices have some bandwidth to play with too. For example, you could limit True Image to 1Mbps giving all your other devices the remaining 1Mbps to access the internet.

Hi Joey

Thanks for the help.

Down to 1 Nb/s and ATI is now playing nicely with machines on the LAN.

My first full backup with a trial subscription of Acronis Cloud took 18 hours to back up 1 TB compressed to 330GB. That seemed on par with the ZManda Backup solution I had been using previously.
