2012 install caused BSOD in Win 7 and now I cannot boot machine properly

Thread needs solution

Wow, I wish I'd read these forums before purchasing the 2012 upgrade. I downloaded the 2012 version (from my order), and it ran and checked for new updates. Said there was a newer version of 2012 to install. So the 2012 install program downloaded it and ran the install. It gave me an error stating that it couldn't find the file specified (but the error didn't say WHICH file) and it linked me to a page on Acronis' website that said there was no information available.

Okay, so I tried the install again. It gave me a BSOD in Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium SP1. It wrote a dump file and then rebooted the pc. Now I am unable to get Windows 7 to work at all. The BSOD was with the timount or something.

The machine does boot and I can login, but then it just sits there. I don't get the desktop or anything.

Booting into safe mode yields the same result.

How on earth can a company make a product to "backup" your machine when it totally hoses it so you cannot even make a backup?

Is there any way to uninstall 2012 from a command prompt?

Can you restore a backup when the computer was working right?

If yes, then uninstall 2012, create a clean boot environment with msconfig (disable all non-Microsoft services, and all startup items), reboot and then install the lastest build.

If you don't have a backup, are you using system protection? If yes, hit F8 when the computer boots and restore to a previous restore point.

I recovered to a previous restore point and used my True Image Home 11 (NOT 2011) even though it's not "supported" on Windows 7 by Acronis. Given all the horrible issues with 2012 I'll be asking for a refund. Really? Having to install a product, Acronis makes you disable any and all non-MS services?

I don't think so. Will be using some other vendor's product from now on (ghost)
