2012 One backup - then epic failures

Thread needs solution

Created a complete backup two days ago, now trying an incremental to the exact same external hard disk and I get this:

Not a dynamic disk, not an EZ-Drive, just a USB hard disk formatted NTFS simple volume
Of course, the error message is incorrect, and the logs are just blank as to the error.

This software is not ready to be used. Thinking of asking for a refund and looking elsewhere.

Can you post a picture of your disk management console?

Try the usual uninstall, cleanup, reboot, reinstall.

Tried this and uninstall fails.

Disk management screen cap attached.

TIH doesn't understand Apple HFS it sees it as a dynamic disk which i think is a false lead as far as error messages go, i don't think even using the PlusPack would solve that problem.

How you managed to make an image in the first place is puzzling. I'm only assuming you are using an Apple due to the Bootcamp entry.

The laptop has a hard disk partitioned into 2 drives - one used for the MacOS and one for Win7 x64. When you run Bootcamp, you boot into the second partition and run Windows as the base OS. It's not a virtualization or emulation. The backup drive also has 2 partitions: one for the mac backup using time machine and one for Windows. I am backing up the NTFS volume to an NTFS volume. It's not a dynamic disk, but a simple volume. It worked the first time and never again. I also tried backing up to another external drive and also to a NAS volume and it always shows this error.

If the problem is the install, then how did it correctly backup the first time. I still cannot build a boot disk from within ATIH 2012, but did download an ISO. So, booting from this ISO on another machine, I was able to navigate the existing backup and it appears valid.

Something is clearly wrong with this release. The hundreds of entries in the forums should tell Acronis that this is just not ready to be released and the amount of people asking for refunds is very enlightening.

It may have difficulties understanding hybrid MBR-GPT with not one protective partition but also up to three regular partitions. BTW - "Hybrid MBRs are not part of Intel's EFI GPT standard." (c)

Probably 2011 was not aware of GPT disks and protective MBR was enough to trick it. Now it's aware but nonstandard protective MBR probably make it think that it's not an MBR at all , so the disk is a superfloppy and is not supported.

So, booting from this ISO on another machine,

Does it mean that it doesn't boot on the mac itself?
