aborted cloning, now computer doesn't recognize the backup drive
running windows xp w/sp2
started to do a clone using acronis migrate,
it had not started the clone yet, was still analyzing the destination hard drive when i hit "cancel"
it then brought up a screen showing a reboot would be necessary
it tried to reboot from the destination or target hard drive for some reason, so i removed it, forced a reboot and computer then rebooted off the internal hard drive
when to check the target drive, and it doesn't show on the directory tree or in that computer management window under "storage devices"
if i unplug it (USB connection) i get the audible two tone signal that i've disconnected it, and when i reconnect i get the same audible reconnection signal, so it's recognizing it, just not reflecting it on the directory tree
if i go into device manager, the drive shows up there under one of the USB ports, and it's even identified as a "Samsung" with the appropriate model number - i had windows check for updated drivers, but it showed it was the latest version driver
went back to computer directory tree and to the computer management "storage" window and it's still not showing up there
i moved the harddrive to another computer and same results there
any suggestions or have i turned this notebook hard drive into a door stop?

don't have a notebook to install it in - it's in one of those small external cases - actually came from samsung like that - but if i move it to another computer (ie connecting via USB cable) it doesn't show up there either
suspect it is unallocated but don't know what to do to get it to recognize the damn thing - have thought of uninstalling the driver and re-installing but not sure if i'll be able to re-install
PS - just un-installed the driver and re-installed and it still does not show up on directory tree

Does the drive show up when running TI? If so, use TI to prepare the drive and then Windows should recognize it.
