You don't need to install the earlier version. You will need the serial number from the earlier version, as well as that for the new version.

I'm trying to install an update to my 2012 version of acronis home. It will not install. I keep getting the following error message .... Error writing to c:\Config.Msi\42160f.rbf, verify that you have access to this directory. How to I resolve this error? I am logged in with full administrator authority!

Please clarify:
you currently have 2012 installed, and you now want to install 2013?

Some additional information for you ... the machine that is running this copy of Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack release level 6131 has a XP Pro SP3 O/S. I am attempting to update 2012 to release level 7133 and not to upgrade to Acronis 2013.

The only license you need is the orignal purchase for 2012 and if the 2012 was an upgrade, you will also need the prior 2011 or 2010 serial for input into the 2012 ugrade.

My suggestion is that you uninstall the 2012 plus pack. This will be either under P for Plus or A for ACronis--not sure which.

Then uninstall the 2012 program. Next, for additional cleanup, run the 2013 cleanup utility. When using the cleanlup utility, pay attentiion to the text comments inside the KB article and perform those checks as per the KB.

Download the 7133 program plus download the 7133 plus pack from your own account--if you have not already done so.

Install the main 7133 and then install the 7133 plus pack.

Remake all your backup tasks and you should be all set.
