Acronis does not start from disk
Hi,
yesterday I downloaded the latest 30 days trial version of True Image 2010. Installation worked, I chose also option "update". I have now build 6.053. I could create an image and a bootable disk. But when I try to start my laptop from this CD (I tried with USB stick, too) the following happens:
I get the choice of Acronis True Image Home (full vers.) or System report. Whatever I click I get the blue starter picture ("Acronis True Image...") and after half a minute the screen turns to black and nothing happens anymore.
I tried also to use option "pci=nobios" as start parameter, but it didn't work either. Anyone an idea what is going wrong? As I cannot start the report function I don't know, which information to provide...
I have Vista 64 bit running.
Thanks in advance!
Frank

Hello Frank,
I understand the issue and will definitely help you.
The most probable reason of the issue is that standard bootloader (Acronis Loader) can't unpack and start necessary modules. So to fix the issue I've sent you a Private Message with the ISO image of Acronis Rescue Media that is based on an alternate bootloader (ISOLINUX). Moreover, this ISO also contains an updated hardware drivers, that should also help to prevent such issues.
Please reply to this thread if the issue is not fixed, I'll be glad to help you.
Thank you.

Hi Ilya,
thank you for your reply and sorry that I didn't answer earlier. I had to fix a virus problem with a new installation (and changed to Windows 7 by the way). Without an image it was quite exhausting.
So I burned the image you sent me via mail to a CD-R. It boots, showing some (8?) options True Image uses, than says Kernel.dat and Ramdisk.dat is loaded. After some dotted lines, the screen turns to black and hangs again... :-(
What kind of information do you need?

Hello Frank,
Could you please try to boot off with the 3rd option (acpi=off noapic) and check if the issue still persists?
If 3rd option will not help, please boot your machine again with 2nd option and make a digital photo of the screen where the boot process hangs. Please attach this photo to your reply.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

Hi Frank and Ilya,
I happen to have the same problem as Frank:
Black screen when starting from rescue disc. Could anyone of you send me that Linux ISO image too.
I'd be glad !
Best regards,
Frank

Hello Frank,
I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to solve the issue.
I have sent you requested ISO image for Acronis True Image 11 Home based on ISOLinux via PM. I have checked your account and found that the latest registered version is Acronis True Image 11 Home. If you have more current versions, eg. Acronis True Image Home 2009 or Acronis True Image Home 2010 please register them or send me the serial numbers via PM.
You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD at:

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi,
I downloaded the ISO image and was able to start the PC with option "3". Then I copied the image of my C: drive back from an external drive. This messed up my master boot record and destroyed the partition table. So I reinstalled my laptop again manually. Lucky me, that I could reconnect my data partition so nothing was lost. But I am not longer willing to do any experiments on my computer. I didn't reinstall True Image and threw away the boot disc with your image. Than I found out, that Windows 7 offers the same functionality. I created an image and a boot disc. I was able to start my laptop with this and could recover my c: drive (and data partition) without any problems. So thanks for your help, but your product costed me a lot of time without success. As I said, I didn't reinstall it.
