Acronis extended capacity manager

Thread needs solution

I got a 2.72 TB harddisk and I have to use extended capacity manager to be able to use the 0.72 TB which windows 7 64 bit ultimate can't seem to use because it's MBR.

My question what If I delete acronis 2012? Will the partition still excist, will I keep the data on it?
I want to switch between acronis 2011 and 2012 for example.

Btw are images created with 2012 backwards compatible and recoverable by the 2011 version? I heard that 2011 were compatible with 2012 but not sure if it's the other way around aswell?

Thank you.

Some users have had success with recovering 2012-made images with 2011 recovery CD.
You should try if you want to rely on that.

Reconhell,

You can use the partition after 2012 uninstall.
A quote from the User's guide:
"You will be able to continue using the Extended Capacity Disks even after uninstalling Acronis True Image Home 2012. During uninstallation, you will be asked whether you want to remove the Extended Capacity Disk. If you choose not to remove the disk, it will remain usable."

I see thanks! So what if I took that same disk and put it on another windows 7 installation? Will I still have the partition data? Or will it not be exploreable? Since the space is created on a virtual disk if im not mistaken??

Reconhell,

I think that depends on what you mean. If the disk is a data disk and you insert the disk into another system then it won't be visible as the virtual driver is not installed on that Windows 7 system. If though the disk you move is the one that contains the OS and you will be booting from it then the utility will be 'ported' across, if you aren't booting from it then you still won't have access to the virtual partition(s).

I see so what would happen to the data that you won't have acces to, will it will untouched I assume?

What if you boot with acronis or windows setup how would that data look? would it still come across as unallocated data?

I don't know, why not try it, after making an image first of course.
