Acronis freezes when I try to do a cloning operation

Thread needs solution

Acronis freezes when I try to do a cloning operation to a new drive connected via my Antec hot swap drive caddy (eSATA port). The minute I apply power to the external SATA drive, Acronis freezes.

The way I understand the Antec documentation, the external eSATA port is provided for exactly the purpose I am trying to accomplish. It has been some time since I installed the caddy, and my memory fails me, but perhaps, I did not internally connect the caddy eSATA port to my motherboard. I am beginning to suspect this may have some bearing on my issue.

Is the drive properly recognized by Windows?

BTW, it would be far safer to perform a full disk backup followed by a restore, than to clone.

Richard,

To fully use the caddy for either a disk insert or an eSata connection, both connectors on the Caddy must be connected to the motherboard or pci card. Two SATA data cables connected.is required for a full use of both options.
