Is Acronis for me?

Thread needs solution

This may seem obvious but the website is very technical and I just don't get whether this product can do what I need. I am looking for backup software that can do 2 things:

1.
Historically, I created backups by simply copy / pasting my entire directory structure into a seperate hard drive (which I then stored at the bank). Now I find myself with many past backups and I would like to consolidate everything into a single folder.

The software I need has to be able to compare two folders, say: Master and Slave. If there is anything in the Slave folder that can't be found in the Master folder, then the specific file (with the Directoriy path) would be copied into the Master folder under a specific folder.

Among other things, the software has to be able to look at two files and realize that if it has the same name, file size, creation date...ect...it is the same file. If only the creation date is different, those files can be flagged for manual review (thumbnails would be nice).

2.
Once I have my Master folder of all my historical files, I want a backup software that never deletes. If I accidentally delete some pictures on my laptop, the back-up software won't delete anything on the back-up hard drive. Even better, the backup software would detect and advise that files have been deleted on the laptop and ask whether those files should be restored.

thank you for any assistance. If Acronis can't do these things, I would appreciate advice on what software I should be looking at...

Sounds like you need a sophisticated file manager, not disk imaging software. You may want to take a look at ZTreeWin. But since you sound like you have a plethora of files, once you find your ideal organization tool for them, you should definitely consider True Image for disk image backups of your entire system and data file partition array - you wouldn't want to lose all of your valuable data to hardware failure or software malfuntion.
