Acronis Online Backup

Thread needs solution

Hey guys,

Does the Acronis online backup just backup files or does it do a disk/partition image?

Thanks

You can image the complete disk but it is done at a file level, so no MBR or complete disk structure. Just tick the partition label (such as 'c:\' ) and all the files under C:\ are then sent to the cloud. However, you would probably want to untick the hiberfil and pagefile to reduce upload bandwidth, I'm also unsure what happens to hidden files and folders.

I mention hidden and system files, as i always have them unhidden on my systems so although unhidden they would be backed up, I'm not sure on a default Windows system.

Be aware it could take a few days to upload a modern drive contents, all depending on your ISPs upload speed.

ABR11.5 (the business version) can image complete disks to the cloud.

Thanks for the information.

I think I will set that up for just backing up files then, and have it do proper disk backups and store them on a local NAS.

When doing incremental backups, does Acronis save multiple files, or does it overwrite the current one?

Incrementals are separate files, one for each increment unless you set up some form of consolidation.
Differentials are 1 full plus differential.
