Acronis recovery and consolidition.

Thread needs solution

On my window 7 utimate systen I have installed Acronis Home 2011. It added at tab to the property option window labelled Acronis Recovery.

On my system clicking this brings up a window last says it is looking for older versions. In my case it never finds any but I am using non stop backup as well as a weekly backup.

Consolidition of my backups, as I back up a 1Gb HD onto a !GB FreeAgent it graduatally runs out of space, so I tried Consolidition it just sat there doing nothing.

Cancelling it and logging at the system log it says it was successful. But I have still got no extra space.

If it is any help I run under a user login and have to type in my administration password to run Acronis.

Alan,

are you trying to consolidate the NSB or the weekly backup?

Is the weekly backup a disk image or a files and folders?

Is the NSB storage on the external drive as well or on an internal?

Both actually.

I have now resolved the problem with the recovery tab. It requires an administrator logon. Why acronis seem to assume that all backup is done under the administrator logon is beyond me.

Consolidation is now producing a runtime error so I have reinstalled it over itself. Oddly on first use it said it had to reboot as a earlier version was installed. Then despite checking if there was an update available at reinstall time and finding none, it then told me one was available and installed it when I stated acronis. Now back on 5519.

It may be that the consolidation has left the data in an invalid state. So I might have to delete all my backups and start again, which would cure the problem requiring consolitation.
