Acronis Recovery operation stuck at Restoring Partition Structure

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I am a beginner using Acronis, but not a computer novice. I made a backup of a hard drive from a computer that had a bad motherboard. I wanted to try to clone the hard drive to keep it for a backup. I started the recovery process, and everything was working fine. I went to bed and it was on step 3 of 3 Restoring partition structure. No idea how long it had been there. I woke up 8 hours later, and it is still stuck on the same operation. What gives?:/

Checked the task manager for something else and noticed that CPU is at 100%, memory is above 80%, and Acronis is responsible for a lot of that.

Is it something I'm doing wrong? Should it actually take this long? I'm supposed to be able to use this program in the field to make copies of hard drives so if one fails the systems I work on won't be down for very long, but if it takes this long to make a recovery disk every time, I think I'll skip it.

The compute r I'm using is HP 8000 Elite, E8400, 4 GB memory,WIndows 7 Ultimate x64

Thanks in advance.

Ike, please post to the Acronis True Image Echo Forum where you may find someone with knowledge about that older business product.
