Acronis TI 11 Home - Bootable Rescue Medium
Downloaded TI 2012 (30 days trial) and endeavoured to complete full b/u to external HDD. After over fifteen (15) hours checked and saw that I had another 1 day to go!! All those trees, not to mention my electricity bill...
Dug out TI 11 Home, d/l latest version from CD and tried to create Bootable Rescue Medium.
Although I believe that, having a CD, there is no requirement to do so I thought I would try it out.
Receive error: "E00040010: Device is busy. (ox40010) Tag=nnnnnnn"
My device is not busy as far as I can ascertain.
I have not tried to b/u using TI 11 Home but will now do so. Now I know why the CD was gathering dust!
After all, Acronis cannot damage my external - can it? Ah well here goes...

Thanks for prompt reply.
1. Ok will try this.
2. TI 2011 Home with latest update D/l today. Prior to 2012.
3. I uninstalled the 2012 trial prior to installing TI 11 from original purchased CD.
4. Backup it to external HDD with rear connected usb.
Began b/u four hours ago.

If your drive C does not have a name, I would suggest you assign one such as your "os name & drive letter" such as
Win7_C
XPPro_C
As you re-used the descriptive "TI 11" again, I am assuming that you are referring to the real version 11 and not referring to version 2011. If referring to 2011, please only use the "2011" as the descriptive.
Your backups can be created via the TI bootable media or from the Windows installed TI.

I have Acronis True Image 11 Home (build 8022). Sorry for incorrect description.
I do not wish to assign name to my C drive as I have several applications that are updated direct to relevent sub folder.
Backup finished after some 4 hours. Problem now: Ext. drive shows file mybackup.tib 245,784,576KB, C:\ as 296GB. Also attached screenshot reports that I do not have any backups although selecting Restore > Wizard shows ext. drive total size: 298GB. I did not restore but, surely as I could have, the opening screenshot of Acronis should not state no backups.

The opening screenshot is a "feature" or a bug. Either way, the message means that you have not created a "pre-scheduled" backup. This message can be ignored if your created your backup manually.
The mybackup.tib is a compressed file. Perhaps the C: is being shown in its non-compressed form. If you believe you have a problem, post a picture of the screen showing the 296.

As it relates to the size of the *.tib backup file, the size appears mostly normal but may be a little large. You would normally expect the size to be 295 x .75% compression =200-225GB backup size but size will vary depending upon content of the files. File types such as movies, music or pictures are already compressed and will not compress much further so if you have many of these, this would make your backup larger than a normal compressed file. The increased size 245GB actual as compared to 225GB projected could also relate to difficult reads caused by bad sectors. Why not boot from the CD and do a validation test.
Be aware that a backup will show as corrupt if you try to read a backup file with an an older version of TrueImage which was created by a newer version.
If you have not checked the disk for disk errors any time within the recent past, it might be a good ideas to check disk for errors.

I have no older versions.
Checked disk F - no errors or bad sectors.

check all your disks for errors involved with the backup.
Here is some additional tips on checking a corrupt backup. Try creating a new backup. If the new backup is also corrupt, then you could have a hardware issue. Good luck.
