Acronis TI 2014, Like Previous Versions, Does Not Save Settings

Thread needs solution

Acronis TI 2014, as with previous versions, does not save schedule settings. It doesn't matter how many times I configure my email backup as "Do Not Schedule". It automatically changes to a daily schedule with an arbitrary time selected and I have to change it again, and again, and again. I use the "Single" backup for my system and email backups, with each new backup overwriting the previous backup.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. The OS was reset to factory image a few days ago. I have neither installed nor used any third party "cleaning" applications such as CCleaner. I don't use registry cleaners as I find no valid reason for doing so.

I appreciate any assistance provided.

Your inability to create a non-scheduled task is due to the procedures you are using to create the task.

Here are two links where this is discussed and illustrated with the steps needed to create a non-scheduled (do not schedule) task.

Creating a non-scheduled task is easy to do but you do have to know the steps needed to create such a task.

The links are a little lengthy but it would beneficial ifyou read each of the postings and looked at the examples as well as the video.

Thank you, Grover. It took me this long to answer you because I'm not getting any notifications that someone has responded to my threads, even though I have "Notify me when new comments are posted" checked. There's nothing in my spam folder from Acronis either. Anyway, I read through all the articles your links pointed to and I read the PDFs. What a read. The most enlightening aspect was the advice not to click on OK after clicking on Do Not Schedule.

I'm getting a full backup that overwrites the previous backup, which is what I chose, and it also automatically backed up today (Thursday), which is the day I chose, but it's not performing the backup at the time I chose, which is of no importance to me. It's fine the way it is. In any event, I don't expect software or anything else I buy to be problem free. I learned a long time ago that frustration, aggravation and impatience will gain a person absolutely nothing.

I usually always buy the disc when I purchase software and in the case of Acronis the disc is bootable so I don't even use the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. I configured the Acronis Secure Zone on my previous editions of TI but I don't even do that now. I've found that simple is often better. I also do weekly backups with Windows Backup and Restore and I have the Dell DataSafe discs I made when I received the laptop so I'm not concerned about an Acronis backup failure. I burned a Win PE disc not too long ago so I think I've basically got everything covered. I also have the OS installation disc that came with the computer. I always store anything of importance on my second internal drive and then back it up to two external drives so I'm not even concerned about my OS drive failing. I'll just buy a replacement and I'll be good to go.

Thanks again, Grover. I really do appreciate your assistance and your willingness to use your spare time to assist others.

Always good to hear that something beneficial was found.

Check this link to make sure you don't have the setting checked to run only when idle.
This could account for wrong execution timing.

Wow! My first notification email. I must be living right. No, I let TI run regardless of any activities taking place at the time. I don't have the "idle" box checked although I do let a missed backup run at startup with a thirty minute delay. The laptop has an Intel Core i7-2720QM processor and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M display adapter, and I'm running 8GB or RAM, so I don't worry about it. I do a lot of video editing but TI runs just fine at the same time. The laptop is a Dell XPS-17 L702X HD. It's nothing to shout about but I bought it mainly for reading all my unread Kindle books and for watching HD movies when I travel to Asia for a few months each year.

Thanks again, Grover. I appreciate your time and your assistance. Have a nice day, or evening, depending on where you are.

Another place to look regarding the backup not starting on time.
Examine carefully the log files dated just prior to the start of the last delayed backup.
Check if any might be a standalone validation such as a montlhly validation or do any of the tasks show consolidation occurring.
