Acronis TI 2014 - Restore log analysis - Help

Thread needs solution

Fellow Acronis folk.

I am running Acronis Ti 2014.  I needed to restore image and reload the entire C drive. I did it from the gui and not from the emergency disk. All apears to have gone fine - ran about 1.5 hours. But, I have no way to prove it ran fine. I do not see any log info indicate the recovery was successful.

The only thing I saw was failure starting the Acrnos Sync Agent server but that was it.

Can someone please tell me where to look to see that the recovery was succesfull? The log view does not show anything like that even when I select ALL in the viewing boxes.

Thanks,

MG

MG, welcome to these user forums.

Regardless of doing the restore from within the GUI or from bootable media, Acronis has to restart the computer and boot into a standalone (linux based) environment from which to perform the restore.  If you do not save the logs from that temporary environment before restarting the system then they are lost forever.

Personally I would not recommend doing this type of restore from within the GUI - if you have a Legacy / MBR system then this will work successfully 99% of the time, but with more modern systems using EFI and Secure Boot, this is a recipe for problems, especially if changes to the bootloader configuration do not get reset, which can lead to an unbootable system.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for all of that info.  I was on a "chat" session with Acronis yesterday about this. They too thought there should have been a log in the LOG folder. There was not., They told me to try using the external method during the boot and recovery that way. The recovery worked, I went to the  Log tab, viewed the messages which were all good, and saved the log off onto a drive. Done.

Thanks Steve.
