Acronis True Image 10 Home

Thread needs solution

I have looked through the forum but unable to find the answer to my question so I am posting here,
I just recently purchased Acronis True Image 10 Home from the clearance table at Office Depot (I didn't realize it was an OLD product).
I thought I would get basic setup support thru the chat window but option was not available.

I have a new computer with Windows 7 Pro on 250gb SATA hard disk (no raid).
I installed the product in windows and everything went fine with no problems.
I was able to create the secure zone and created a backup.
BUt on bootup when I select the F11 option I can't see the hard drive - - gives me an error "E000101F4: Acronis has not found any hard disk drive"
When I boot up from the cd it does not see the hard disk - gives me an error "E000101F4: Acronis has not found any hard disk drive"

I checked to make sure that I had the latest version and I did (build 4942).
If I change the drive settings in the bios from "AHCI" to "IDE" then I can see the drive.

Any suggestions on being able to use the recovery option without having to keep changing the bios setting.
Thanks in advance.

Faiyaz:

The error message means that version 10 (several years old now) does not have the SATA or AHCI driver required by your laptop's hardware. Your options include:

1. Try downloading the bootable ISO for TI 10 from your account page on the Acronis web site. This version is newer than the recovery version that is included on the CD or that you create yourself with the Bootable Media Builder application. It may or may not have the required hardware drivers.

2. Download the trial version of TI 2011 and install it temporarily on another PC. Use it to create a bootable recovery CD. After creating the CD you can uninstall TI 2011. The recovery CD will be able to restore TI 10 files, and since it is recent, it may have the drivers that your laptop requires.

3. If #2 works, consider upgrading to TI 2011. Upgrades to registered users are offered at a discount.
