Acronis True Image 2010 Rescue Media and USB Keyboard

Thread needs solution

Hello All,
I have recently purchased Acronis True Image 2010 for my backup needs. I would like to be able to use the rescue media to boot up and perform backup and restore operations. It is a critical need of mine. My day so far has been an endless series of failures as far as being able to use the rescue media. Here's what I have tried:
1. Tried booting with the original product CD. From the options screen I selected the True Image option from menu. Nothing happened after that and I gave up after waiting for 10 minutes.
2. Visited forums and read a LOT of isues. Got some hints though.
3. Decided to download the rescue media ISO from my registered product page and burnt it to a CD. It booted up just find and I am in the program. BUT, only the mouse is working and not the keyboard. I tried starting this Linux based loader with all the boot options but using items like nousb disables both mouse and keyboard. I am running out of options here and really frustrated.

I have a WIRED USB keyboard (Microsoft Ergonomic 4000) and a WIRED USB mouse (Logitech G9x).
My motherboard is X58 based chipset.

I would really appreciate any help at this point.

Cheers,
JZ

I was hoping to see some replies/suggestions but I guess I am on my own here. I researched into BartPE and WinPE/VistaPE based solutions. I tried creating a VistaPE bootable disk and added BartPE plugin to it. The VistaPE boots fine, I have access to mouse, keyboard and all of my hard disks. Acronis True Image however failed to start with the error that says something like "side-by-side configuration is incorrect". My knowledge for adding custom contents to WinPE disks is rather limited. The BartPE builder is for XP and I have Vista installed on my system.

Is someone from Acronis reading these boards? Can I create a WinPE disk with Acronis in it? I am surprised the amount of customization needed to use this product. Sad part is, I have not even tried out the backup/restore capabilities of this product.

This is very dissappointing Acronis folks.

The official Acronis people usually take about 2 sometimes 3 weeks to answer. The rest of us, unpaid volunteers, do our best.
The BartPE cd with True Image embedded in it will work to backup and recover your Vista system.

Thanks for the reply DwnNDrty. I managed to get a hold of the XP CD from a friend and created the BartPE bootable and added the Acronis BartPE plugin to it. As you have correctly predicted, the BartPE bootable works and it works best amongst all the other options I have tried. My mouse and Keyboard are responsive and I can access Acronis features as well. Success at last, YAY!

During the quest for searching for Acronis Rescue disk solutions, I learned some new stuff like VistaPE/WinBuilder and BartPE.

Anyways, off to trying out the backup features of the product.

Thanks.
