Acronis True Image 2012 - photo retrieval

Thread needs solution

Hello,
This is my first time posting and I'm not sure if I'm in the right section.
I have the True Image 2012. My hard drive E, where I store my photos have crashed and cannot access my files. This is not my drive C where the system resides. I have been trying to restore my photo files with acronis but every time I try, it asks for Volume 1. I don’t know if it’s missing or corrupted. The file size is 1 TB tib and other also have lesser size incremental files. I’ve been trying to access my photos so I can restore them but without any success. I’ve tried to restore the tib file but it asked me again for volume 1. I tried to validate the file but it would just hang. I left it running for a few hours thinking maybe because it’s such a large file but it seems that its stuck so I would abort the operation.
How can I access the tib files and restore or copy individual photo files to my new drive? I would really appreciate any help to be able to retrieve my important photos.

Thanks,
Jude

What are the filenames of the .tib archives?

Are you trying to restore an incremental backup?

Are all the previous incremental backups, and the original full backup, present in the same directory?

How many iincremental backups are in the chain?

I suspect that one of the earlier incremental backups, or the full backup, is either missing or damaged.

Thanks for the reply.
I've attached an image of the file.

I've been trying to restore the whole backup but volume 1 seems to be corrupted so I'm hoping that I can at least get some file from the incremental backups.

All incremental backups are present in the same directory. I have the Drobo storage where all my backups reside.

There are nine incremental backups.

If one of the backup is damaged, wouldn't I be able to at least recover the other files from the incremental backup?

A task for Incremental or Differential will always begin with a full backup. That is necessary, as that becomes the baseline.

For an Incremental task, after the first full backup, subsequent backups will be incremental, each one based on changes since the previous Incremental backup, all the way back to the second backup being incremental based on changes since the full backup. As such, you need all links in the chain, all incremental backups right back to and including the first full backup, in order to Restore.

For a Differential task, after the first full backup, subsequent backups will be differential, each one based on changes since the first full backup. To restore, you would need just any Differential and the Full backup on which it is based.

You should not allow an incremental chain to become too long. An incremental restore depends upon every incremental in the chain being valid, including the original full. It's better to limit each chain to just a few incrementals, followed by a fresh full backup to start a new chain.

You should validate backups periodically. That would alert you much if the full backup were missing or unreadable.

So, if one incremental backup is corrupt or unreadable, every subsequent backup that depends on it will be unusable.

Transfer the backups to your internal HD, boot from the bootable ATI Rescue Media and try to validate the backups.

Thanks for the suggestion and will use your suggestion in the future. Unfortunately, this does not presently help me as I still have no way to get my files back.

Appreciate your help.
