Acronis True Image 9.0

Thread needs solution

After rebuilding my PC (Windows XP) I wasnt able to reinstall True Image 9.0
The installing started and stopped a while after sending the product key. The Programm asked me to start the installation from the beginning. And so on. What can be the problem?

Hello Ole,

Thank you for your post. I will do my best to assist you.

In order to resolve this issue, we will need to take a look at the msi installer log. Please use this article for instructions on how to create it.

Let me also know please, which operating system you are using and what build is our software.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

I do hope, that I am posting my question at the right place. At the moment I am using Acronis True Image 9. After having problems yesterday making a back-up, I noticed that when the discs are listed, there is a red star on my "C" partition. On the other partitions there are either no star or a green star. Where can I find out what the red or the green star means?
And how do I find out how much the compression is by "normal".
I will be changing over to Home 2010 soon. But I would like to understand this.
I have been using Acronis True Image for about 3 years, but I've never done the "work" myself.

Thank you

Oh! Sorry, WinXP, sp3, back-ups on external harddrive.

Danke,
Kitra

Hello Kitra,

Thank you for posting and welcome to our Forum. I will do my best to assist you.

You are definitely posting this question in the right place. The green star means that the disk is OK, the red star means that there are errors on the hard drive. The best to way to check this, is to press start->run>type:cmd and type this command: chkdsk on the C: partition. If there are any errors, the operation will stop. You can also send me an Acronis report via a private message, this utility creates a hard drive log.

I am sorry for the inconvenience, but in True Image 9, there was no indication of how much space is saved by compression. However, in Acronis True Image 2010 Home there is this feature. Please check this screenshot for details.

If you are planning to change to ATIH2010, I would recommend to download a trial version first, see how it runs on your system, create a few backups, test the recovery CD and see if there are any issues. We offer 30 days free technical support for trial versions, they are fully functional for 15 days, with some limitations. You can get the trial version from here.

If there is anything else I can do, please let me know.

Thank you.

Thank you for your answer. I'll see how far I get. Is compressing down from 55 GB to 35 GB "Normal" for a complete back-up? If yes, I'm on the right track...

Hello again, Kitra,

Thank you for replying.

If you are using Normal compression method, this looks about right. I also noticed the same results in Acronis True Image 2010 on my virtual machine that I use for testing.

I also replied to your private message in relation to the red star issue, if you do not mind, I would like some additional information to get this sorted.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

I#d just like to thank you here for the help. Everything is working and I've learned a little bit more.
