Acronis true image full backup probelm on restoring

Thread needs solution

Hi, a two years ago I made a full back up of the hard disk in one of my old pc machines, I believe it had Windows NT on it. Everything wokred just fine, but now
when I want to restore that backup on another disk I only get error that operating system wasn't found. The old hard drive was 2.1GB and the new one is 80GB, both of them are ATA, and I don't think it should be the problem. The partition that I get now is a Windows RE Hidden, PQ, MirOS ? I attached the pictures. Is there anything that I could made wrong during the backup process?

Boris, welcome to these user forums.

What version of Acronis True Image was used to create the original Windows NT backup image?
What version are you using to try to do the full disk restore?
How are you trying to do the restore?  Are you doing this from within Windows (if so what version) or using the bootable Rescue Media?
Where are you doing the restore, is this on the original Windows NT system, or on a different system?
Where are you trying to boot the restored Windows NT image from?

Hi, thank oyu on your answer, I was using Acronis True Image 2015 version for backup, and I'm using the same version for restore. I'm trying to do it with bootable Rescue cd. I'm doing restore on other system not from the original that I have.

Boris, unfortunately you are facing issues here which require more than just restoring the backup image when you are restoring to different hardware.

You would need to use the Acronis Universal Restore (AUR) utility in order to prepare the restored backup OS to work with the different hardware, but looking at the list of supported operating systems for ATIH 2015 it only supports from Windows XP SP3 or later, so I would suspect that AUR would only support the same.

I found KB document: 1616: Cloning a Windows System to Different Machine which is for an older Acronis Echo product but which talks about Windows NT and speaks about using the Microsoft System Preparation Tool as part of this process.  This has links to the AUR documents.

See also forum post: 39011: NT4.0 Workstation which also has advice on AUR and Windows NT though this is not helpful to your situation.

Hi, thank you on your reply. I have found the solution. I somehow managed to find another old pc wich have the same OS and I made disk clone of that small 2GB HDD with True Image and transfer it to the Maxtor 80GB HDD with manual settings in clone process and everything worked ok. Thank's again.

Boris, I am pleased to hear that you have found a solution to this issue.  Thank you for your feedback.
