Acronis True Image Home 2010 and USB 3.0

Thread needs solution

Just got a new Western Digital USB 3.0 External HDD to use for data and backups. Is TI 2010 always THIS SLOW, with USB 3.0??? Estimating 9 Hours to complete a backup...

BTW...I backup using the Recovery Disk downloaded from Acronis

HP Envy 17 Sandy Bridge model with NEC (Renesus chipset) USB 3.0 Port. I benchmarked the drive in Windows at 90 mb/s read and write....Acronis is dog slow

TI 2010 build 7160

The time estimate is not a true prediction. You won't know until you actual do a backup.

Any chance you have the PlusPack for 2010? It would enable you to make a WinPE Recovery disk so you could use Windows drivers rather than the current Linux drivers.

No plus pak. Was thinking of upgrading to 2011 with plus pak, though. I did start the backup...just sat there. Switched the drive to USB 2.0 and it started flying. Guess I need the Windows drivers...is 2011 worth the investment? I know that 2912 should be releasing around Sept...

Thanks

Frankly, at the cost of TI 2011 PLUS the PLUS pak at $54.00, think I'll stick with 2010 and slower USB 2.0. From all that I am reading about nightmares and headaches with 2011...the upgrade doesn't seem worth it. Heck...EASUS is offering a free Home version of their software for Disaster recovery with WinPE recovery disk...I will stick with older Acronis...

My experiences with usb3.0 and 2011 has been positive. A backup from inside Windows does zip right along between a usb3.- port and a usb3.0 docking station. I don't have any figures--just my own observation.

Since I do my backups from the recovery CD...will 2011 have better USB 3.0 drivers? I just want to gain some benefit from the USB 3.0 on my Envy and the WD External drive I just purchased. It is fast with USB 2.0, I can only imagine if the recovery CD for 2011 would have improved drivers...Or will the Plus pack recovery CD be that much faster

If someone has a USB 3.0 drive. Could you please use your recovery disk to do a backup! I just want to know if 2011 has better USB 3.0 drivers than 2010. Right now, to get any speed out of my USB 3.0 drive, I have to have it connected to the USB 2.0 port...then I can backup at normal USB 2.0 speed. When connected to USB 3.0, the backup using 2010 Recovery CD is slower than slow...almost to a point where it takes half an hour just to get started...

Thanks

Just an update. I chatted with Acronis support late last evening. Was assured that TI 2011 had all updated USB / USB 2.0 / USB 3.0 and Snap .api drivers...and that USB 3.0 speed would work fine off the bootable media disk. He was correct as could be. Backed up 77 GB of my Envy 17 with Data verification in about 20 minutes...that's fast!!!

Just an FYI in case anyone else should need this information, I found it on my own.

Thank you Acronis Tech support, you really came through!!!
