Acronis True Image Home 2010: Backup Fails with "Failed to Read the Snapshot", "Not enough storage" and error code 0x40001

Thread needs solution

Hi

I am getting this error every four or so days, then it works for a while and then the error comes back.
I have tried the fixes from a number of sites including https://kb.acronis.com/content/15725, https://kb.acronis.com/content/10440 and https://forum.acronis.com/forum/26125. But the issue persists.

There is more than enough free disk space (420GB) so it is not a space issue

Please help!

Thanks in advance

The space issue is not space on the target drive but on the source drive where the snapshot is written. The snapshot is the disk info that is used to update your disk when making a backup while windows is running and you, presumably are still using the machine.

On the target side of the equation, you need enough room to for twice the file size of the backup. This is because it makes a backup before it deletes any backups to preserve any user set limits. IF it didn't work this way and a backup failed so you tied it again . . . well you'd erase a perfectly good backup with each attempt. The way ATI works, that can't happen. The penalty is you need enough room for two more backups to make one more. But you get half that space back when the backup is completed.

Thanks for your comments. I am aware the free disk space is of the source drive and that is the 420GB of space I mentioned in my first post - hence the confusion about a lack of space. The backups complete with no issues whatsoever for a few days then fail, then complete fine immediately after failing when run manually - so I know it is not a disk space issue even though that is what the error says

What OS are you using?

I would suggest, since you have tried most other solutions, that you increase the pagefile size of your OS installation. The pagefile works in RAM and is used by the TI snapshot process. If not enough space exists in the pagefile then your error of Not Enough Storage results.

It is running Windows 7 Ultimate. I will try increasing the pagefile size on the machine and monitor this to determine if the error occurs again
