Acronis True Image Home 2011 was working for 12 months AND now will not open

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis True Image Home 2011 for about 12 months and it has worked really well.

In the last few weeks, I double click on the desktop icon and Acronis will not open up at all.

I checked the task manager and under processes, there are two trueimagemoninitor.exe *32 files running as is schedhlp.exe *32.

AcrSch2Svc is also running under services. No acronis products are running under applications.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit.

I've tried getting in to the program via other avenues other than the desktop and by different mechanisms (e.g. trying to go via the start menu and clicking on other Acronis executables like one click backup). Nothing opens.

Also, I don't know if I have most recent build as only way to update it (as far as I can tell) is to do it through the actual software. The "Check for updates" function does not assist me either.

Very frustrating! Any assistance much appreciated.

Build 6942 was the last build for version 2011 and it is available for download from your personal account.

One option would be to restart the install file again (either old or new) and after the install begins, you will be provided with a repair option. The repair option will re-install overtop the existing installation.

Before running the repair. , I would Ctrl-Alt-Del" the Windows Task Manager and "END PROCESS on all Acronis entries items listed and then reboot the computer before doing the repair.

I am having a similar issue in that I bought software so I could backup and restore files when ever necessary!

All has gone well for a year and now I need to look through non stop backups to find the files I need to recover.

I have never used software that is designed for this purpose that doesn't have a recover or restore button.

After an experience with Paragon and serial numbers that didn't work and very poor customer service and this lot is up with them the software doesn't have the features that they suggest in their menu.

Use windows back up and restore and give third party corrupt software a miss.

It seems it may need the first full backup that preceded the Non Stop Backup - Whats the point of having a data file on your drive of this size and you can't access it! There is a logical reason that I don't have the previous full backup.

If anyone has heard of Acronis Backup Explorer or where it exists in the software I would love to hear from you!

Full backups and Non-stop backups are not related.

The backup explorer is the name of the window that opens up when you click "explore all versions" or "explore" or "explore and recover" depending on your version/type of backup

Thanks for that - unfortunately I don't get that option and I think its because the non stop back up and the preceding full back up are on the same disk.

As I said I had a good reason not to keep the past full backup as i had all the incremental data following and did another full backup - unfortunately all the incremental or non stop backup is not accessible.

Very disappointing to say the least. When I try to access one of the files using windows explorer it links up with Acronis and says it can't find the last volume or words to that effect. Typical of add-ons you buy- semi functional and by the time you need support your 12 months is up.

Anyone who buys software should get at least 3 calls on support before you are asked to pay, no mater when that occurs.

Just because you don't need help in the first 12 months should not kick you where it hurts! It just leaves a very bad taste in your mouth.

Would I recommend anyone buy and Acronis product after my experience - NO

I think the windows 7 back up will be a better choice anyway and it will be compatible with Win 8.

Thanks for your advice - I do appreciate and I can see when you have the full backup on a disk you do have access to files but not in my case!

I am constantly finding, when I need to restore, your backup are corrupt. Moreover, backups are not being done on schedule. As a consequence, I've just had a need to restore and the latest back up (though they were scheduled to occur every two days) was two weeks ago. And, those backups are corrupt. It doesn't matter whether they're incremental or differential. This would be less of a problem if the system would alert me to the problems, but it doesn't (even though emails are set to go out). Further, there's the issue of running out of space. I set the config to keep backups under 500 GB but that doesn't work either. I also get many failed backup over (can't read ...). I've only been saved by Carbonite. What should I make of these VERY serious issues? Shall I just abandon your program? What's the point of an upgrade for new features if the old program can't carry out the features its supposed to have? Basically, your program leaves me very insecure.

Mate I am with you I am tired of buying software that you believe is the best in the land!!

When you have an issue and need to use your backup its either not accessible or some other issue that the company attributes to something you do or have done.

Other software I have used that was good did a validation of the data.

I had so much faith in Acronis I didn't test it by deleting a file then going back several versions to recover.

I probably need to do this on a regular basis to let me sleep comfortably and to ensure the integrity of the data.

Win 7 backup and restore is looking better every day!
