Acronis True Image Home 2012 Activation: Troubleshooting, and Useful Links

Thread needs solution

But i have a good idea,

I download the old program regseeker. With that program you can search on the name and
with one mouseclick the acronis details are removed.

After using the atih removing tool i made the mistake to restart the pc. After that i did again removing
the reg traces etc and installed the 2009 english version. Again the serial code wasn`t accepted
Then i used again the cleaning tool. After that i installed a downloaded dutch 2009 version.

And now after about 3 to 4 minute it says the install has been interupted bla bla bla try it again by the setup.

I have putted my viruskiller and firewall on game mode.

Now i am looking further what i can do.....:(

Martin,

It is best if you stick to trying to install just one version of True Image, the different drivers used by the various versions can start causing more problems and become difficult to solve.

To be able to give a better answer the installer log needs to be seen, with 2012 onwards this log is automatically made, with earlier versions you need a batch file to run.

For the moment try the following.

1. Delete all the files that Windows will allow out of your user temp folder - click Windows Start button + r and type in %temp% .

2. Run the True Image installer file and at the install splash menu right click and select extract.

3. Temporarily disable your firewall and AV software.

4. Run the extracted MSI installer of True Image.

I used firstly the english one because it was here posted.
So my iq said download a dutch one :-)

Removed everything again with the atih remover. But that program
doesn`t remove everything. It is that i checked that otherwise
i couldnt solve this problem.

Restarted, bosd, restarted again, a startup recover is starting.

After that cleaned manually the registry and windowsexplorer again.
Clean the temp files and tried it again. Again it wasn`t a go.

Repeated all the steps, thinking why are there still acrosnis traces in the registry that
had to be deleted by the removal program. I couldn`t delete them manually neighter.

After that installed again the dutch one meanwhile i walked downstairs to give my dalmation
dog her food. :)

Came back later and to my astohnisment acronis is installed.....finally.

I hope that someone else can learn from my steps.

All acronis website volunteers, thanks for all the time you gave me and
for helping me out.

Hi, can anyone please help me to get Acronis True Image Personal Activated again.
I got the copy of the above free with my iomega HDD and had it installed and running, then I believed my computer had been compromised so I did a clean install of windows xp home sp3. (What a headache that was.)
Now that I have re-installed Aronis I am trying to reactivate it, but the activation key box will not highlight the activate button, only the getkey and cancel buttons.
Will someone please help me sort this out.
Thanks in advance.

tomtom,

I have no expereince with the OEM edition provided by Iomega, do you get a separate serial number with it or is like the Western Digital and Seagate version embedded within the installer?

What type of activation does it require?

It might be that you should also post this question on an Iomega forum, just in case Iomega have made alterations to the front end/installer for TI.

Do you recall does it report itself as TIH 2009 or TI 2012?

I have the same problem as Terry Van Valkenburgh. Too many activations on the same computer with only one installation on that computer. I upgraded from Acronis True Image Home 2011 to 2012 Plus pack. The system asked me to re-activate a number of times. Hence the latest message "too many activations'. I have not proceeded with any upgrade code or installing a 2012 upgrade until I am sure that will not cause any other problems.

Albert Williams

Albert,

The 'activations' message should have an 'activation' link showing, if it does, click on this and you will be taken to a webpage where your PC user name should be listed. From here you are able to delete the PC from the activation list. Once done, you should be able to activate 2012 in the normal way the next time it shouts at you.

This problem might be similar to David Evans' post of: Sun, 2013-02-03 17:01 (although the path to get there may be different)

I installed ATIH2012 in June 2012, and believe that I registered it properly at that time.

I have created backup(s) in the past, but now the icon looks like a widows 'default' / 'icon not found' icon and the product will not launch. I click on the item in my start menu entitled "Acronis True Image Home", then Windows 7 prompts me whether to allow the program to make changes to the computer, I select "Yes" and then nothing happens. The program will not launch.

Any ideas?

As and update to my previous post, the product now launches (I did nothing). Perhaps windows 7 security settings were preventing it from running (but the icon still looks like the image (ico) file is missing.

USER UNFRIENDLY SITE! Customer (NO) Service is zero help. Technical Service states that they no longer supoort "Acronis True Image Home 2012" . Here's my inquiry: I installed a new hard drive 1/28/2014, so I now must reinstall Acronis; I have the CD in D Drive. Problem is that it won't reinstall. No run, no save, no nothing. Acronis' solution is to sell me more software, not service what they already sold. Disgusted and angry would adequately describe my countenance.

SS McDonald,

What OS are you using?

Exactly what happens during the actual install?

Are you getting any error or warning messages?

Have you tried downloading the latest build of 2012 from your account and running that? It might be that the (shop purchased?) CD has become damaged.

Could you please be more clear on what you mean by 'no run, no save' if you are getting a GUI then it must have installed in some part.

I purchased TI 2013 "upgrade" a year ago to replace Seagate Disc Wizard (TI). TI stepped on Disc Wizard and all was fine until I had to replace my HDD the other day. Reinstalling, TI asks for the serial number of the original package that was upgraded. Never having a SN for Disc Wizard I downloaded it again and then tried to step On it with TI. It didn’t work. At the bottom it says "Serial Number is incorrect. Buy License. Help.

Elton,

The quickest way arounbd it is to uninstall 2014, reinstall DiskWizard and then re-install 2014 as the serial number for DW is embedded in the product. This won't work (I believe) though, if your new disk is not a Seagate one. I think you will need to contact Acronis Support for them to give you a way of unlocking the upgrade.

Is anyone else starting to get the TIH popup that says the hardware ID has changed?

I'm guessing it is because Micro$oft has done something to my XP SP3 that is indirectly causing it.

My problem is that the Activate link is crossed out and not available, which I assume means that it has been Reactivated too many times.

I've been running the 2012 version with the Plus Pack without any upgrades or changes for going on 2 years.

How can I stop the popup?
When I start TIH it has offered me to download the latest version of 2012 which it is in the process of doing now.
Does it mean that I need to do anything else?

The installation of the upgdated build may well solve the problem, if it doesn't the answer is to try a repair install where you run the installer and select 'repair'. In your case, the install (for the new build) will be in a folder in your \user\temp\ folder, otherwise you will need to redownload the newer build from your Acronis account page.

Hi All,

I have Acronis True Image 2012 and the Plus Pack on a Dell Inspiron 7110N Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium Fully patched. I had installed Build 6154 with no problems and was able to use the product. Then I found the Update Build 7133 along with the Plus Upgrade and upgraded to Build 7133.

I did not uninstall Build 6154 before installing Build 7133 and now Acronis True Image 2012 is not useable.

After every single click within the program, I always get Not Responding message at the top and the window grays out.

Can I uninstall Acronis True Image 2012 completely reboot. Run a Windows Registry Cleaner and then reinstall the product without having a problem with Activation?

Thank you!

I hope someone can assist me. I am using True Image Home 2012. I am having trouble with the synchronization feature. I am able to set up a pair of folders on my Windows 7 computer. The files then sync, however, the next time I boot it seems as though the sync has failed. The one folder has a small grey USB icon to show it is sync’d but the other file does not have this icon. Although the icon in the task bar indicates the folders ore sync’d.
The second question I have is how do you remove synchronization pairs on the Synchronization tab for the pairs I am no longer using? I have clicked on the gear, and selected the red X to remove but they are still there.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Richard Whaley

Richard,

I'll have to remind myself on how to do this, but, you cannot delete the first sync that you set up only disbale it. All other syncs can be deleted. I forget now whether this via the cogwheel icon on the sync task or by right clicking and then selecting 'delete'.

Hello:
I have a registered copy of 2012 version. The hard drive on my laptop is getting flaky and I need to install after I replace it. BUT I don't have the download any more. Could someone please tell me where I can get the download I had in 2012.
Thanks.

It is available via your own persoanl Acronis folder per my sigbature link 9 below.

If you used your TI Recovery CD and restore an old backup (a full and complete backup), you can recreate your new disk from your backup and if TrueImage was installed on the backup, then it will be part of the recovery.

After working for about 2 years, my Acronis TrueImage Home 2012 suddenly freezes during backups and freezes the complete system so that I have to press the reset button.
It could not be repaired or uninstalled with the setup utility.
Finally I managed to remove the installation with the cleanup utility.
Now I am facing the next problem: I can not install the 2012 version. It always says:
Fehler beim Verbinden mit dem Update-Server
(I am using a German version. Translation: Error connecting to the update server).
There is no "skip" button or so.
I think the update server is down because Acronis does no longer support the 2012 version.
How can I install the software that I have paid for?

Best regards,
Günter

Gunter,

I think if you click on the install option while it is trying to contact the update server, it will continue to install, I can't rememebr if there is a small tick box that allows you to deselect this option on the installer form. If that doesn't work your next option is to extract the True Image installer file itself.

Bring up the install splash page (wait for the update search to time out if necessary), then right click on 'install' and select 'extract', this will extract the MSI installer file. This installer does not check for updates during the installation.

Did you clone from Windows or from the recovery media?

Hello,

I'm using Acronis Home 2012 on Windows 7. When I originally used Acronis firts in 2012 everything worked fine. After not using the product for a while I installed it now on another computer. The problem is that I can't activate my copy anymore. It looks like if I can't get a connection to the server (computer is connected by ADSL). I'm starting the activation from the small window and also from menu with the same (bad) results-

Checking the log I get following error messages:
(Error mesages translated from german to english)

No response from server
Error-Code: 0x00CA0009

SSL- Connection failed
Code: 0x00030412

SSL V3 Handshake Failure
Code: 0x00030411

Checking for updates also don't work

Error during check for updates
0x013A0001

Could you please tell me how I can get the product activated?

Forget about this product.
It is no longer possible to install the 2012 version because they took the license server offline.
For me this means that I have no access to all the backups I made over years.

I have changed to AOMEI Backupper. This is a freeware, and it is MUCH faster than Acronis is.

I have paid money for 3 licenses that are completely useless now.
It is not even possible to contact Acronis about this issue because they ask for
the serial number, and when you enter the 2012 serial, the server says that this product
is no longer supported.

Shame on you, Acronis.

Bernd,

I'll direct Acronis to your post and see if they can sort your problem out.

Hallo Bernd Liedke

Man kann ATIH 2012 mamuell mit "Von einem anderen Computer aus aktivieren" aktivieren.

http://www.acronis.de/activation/

You can use "Activate from another computer":

- It ist still possible to activate Acronis 2012 by using the option "Activate from another computer". Take care to mark the old computer as the one the license should be moved from to the other computer.

Hi,

Not sure if I'm in the right place...

I've just upgraded to Windows 10 and it's told me that Acronis True Image Home 2012 is not compatible. I had to uninstall it during the upgrade.

I've since logged into my account, downloaded it and tried to install again but it won't let me.

Anyone know how to deal with this?

Thanks!

You may need to upgrade to 2016 version because 2016 version is fully compatible with Windows 10 operating system.

Acronis True Image 2016 supports Windows 10

Acronis True Image 2016 & Acronis True Image Cloud (Release 2016)
Both editions support Windows 10.

Older versions of Acronis products
Support of Windows 10 will not be implemented into older versions of Acronis products (e.g. Acronis True Image 2014 or older.as Acronis development team works on the current versions only. Stable functioning of older products on Windows 10 is not guaranteed.

56196: Acronis Products: Windows 10 Support
https://kb.acronis.com/content/56196

So basically Windows 10 is a free upgrade but I have to pay for Acronis to work with it?

Not being stingey, but it seems kind of dodgy to have to buy a new version...

Is this the only way?

Hi David Small,

If you want Acronis True Image 2012, you need to give up Windows 10.

If you want Windows 10 you need to upgrade Acronis True Image 2016. Or a similar program like Acronis, but they may not be able to restore Acronis Partition Images. Acronis True Image 2012 does not install in Windows 10. Believe me, I tried to.

Hi Guys,

I am running windows 7. I originally purchased true image 2010, then upgraded to 2013 and now want to go to 2016 (as i will got windows 10). The problem is that to do that i am asked to uninstal  2013 first. I tried but this i cannot do as it says i must have system adminstrator status.  I am the only user and when checking my user account status I am the system administrator.

Does anybody know a way through this impass?

Happy new year to all

Hi Brian,

Use Revo Uninstaller, to remove leftover entries from your other versions of True Image.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Reboot and then right-click on Acronis True Image 2016 Installer and click Run as administrator to install.

Thanks for your help.

I'll leave any attempt to run the software until i return from holiday.

and let you know how it goes

Best Regards

Brian

The other options you could try if Revo Installer doesn't work is to run the 2013 installer again but right click on it and select run as Admin. This will then give you an option to uninstall 2013.

Hi community,

I am currently reinstalling a laptop from scratch after ssd failure.

Win 7, ATIH 2012

same problem as Günter reported about a year ago:

(in my case without the prequel of ATIH freezing an subsequently deinstalling it)

Best regards,

I can click INSTALL, installation starts, but after a couple of seconds, the green progress bar starts going backwards, rolling back sozusagen, "installation failed"...

I agree: there MUST be a way to keep using the product that I paid for ??

Karl,

What build of TIH 2012 are you using?  The last build  7133  addressed some installation issues.

You could also try running the Acronis Cleaner utility which should wipe out various registry entries that can sometimes cause a problem re-installing TIH.  https://kb.acronis.com/content/34876

Hi Colin,

thanks for the reply.

I found this in the autorun.ini:

ATIH2012\ATIH2012_6131_de-DE.exe

so I guess I'm using build 6131 ?

as for the clean up I would think it's no use, since my system has never seen an acronis product in it's roughly 36 hours of existence. (I wasn't very clear about that in my initial post, sorry. New ssd, fresh system.)

...it might never see one in the future either I am afraid.

If acronis doesn't support a 4-5 year old software anymore, that's bad enough, but then it would be just fair to be clear about it instead of letting customers try in vain for hours to install that software.

Any other suggestions ?

Hi Karl,

Acronis True Image 2012 Build 7133 is the latest as Colin mentioned. You don't need to install Build 6131 before you install 7133. Just download from your Account, Build 7133 and install that build. And if you decide to upgrade to Windows 10, do not uninstall Acronis True Image 2012, because while it does run in Windows 10, it can't be install in Windows 10 at all.

You may need to do a Clean install in Windows 7 for Acronis.

Hi Morton,

just out of curiosity I feel tempted to try your advice....

but

when it is such a hassle already now, who knows what the situation will be like once I might actually need to restore.

Customer lost his money and faith, Acronis lost a customer. Over and out.

But thanks for trying to help !

Hi Karl,

    Thanks!

Acronis True Image 2012 Build 7133 is the last version of that year. It was a good Backup.

Never acquired Acronis True Image 2014, but it is the last decent version, which allow the User to see their comments, that they bother to fill in when creating the image and see their comments before restoring.

Acronis True Image 2015, lacked that ability and had a lot of bugs in it. I returned the product.

Acronis True Image 2016, also lacks the ability to see exactly what was in the builds in the way of comments. Plus it also has the nasty habit  of running during Shutdown or Restart of the computer. A Magor bug that Users don't like.

Hello.  I happily ran Acronis True Image Home 2012 on my Windows 7 PC for many years.  That PC suffered a motherboard failure and has been replaced.  The replacement has Windows 8.1.  When I downloaded and tried to install ATIH 2012 it said there was a compatability issue and stopped the install.  Does 2012 not work with 8.1?  Is there a work around?  I'm not trying to retrieve data from backups, as the hard disk is intact.  I just want my backup program back.

It does not look like ATIH 2012 is supported on Windows 8.1

https://kb.acronis.com/content/23921

You would probably need to upgrade to 2016.  You can usually find a smoking deal if you're not in a rush.  I've seen 3 pack upgrades (from a single license) for as low as $19.99.  Right now (if you have your old license key), a single license upgrade seems to be $29.99 with a free second license.  Do some "coupon" hunting on Google and you may find even better deals.
