Acronis True Image stops with fatal error

Thread needs solution

I use Acronis True Image Home 2010, bought on 3rd Nov 2009, with Win Vista. I want to backup disc 0 (149,05 GB, 3 Partitions) and disc 1 (465,76 GB, 2 Partitions, System disc) to a 931.51 GB expansion drive (1 TB Seagate External Expansion Drive). I made one complete backup to the expansion drive and initiated than "Nonstop Backup" to get a permanent image of my running system to the expansion drive.

True Image stops sometimes for unknown reason and a window (s. attachment "Fehlermeldung_1.jpg") opens to explain the reason. I restarted True Image (it took extremely long until the first window displayed) and saw that "Nonstop Backup" - my standard setting - was not running. I tried to restart "Nonstop Backup" and got the the error message (s. attachment "Fehlermeldung_2.jpg").

This can happen 2 - 3 times a day - on other days 0 times. I have no idea what might be the reason for the error.

The only way to restart True Image corrrectly is to reboot the system. Than True Image is startet automatically within the boot sequence.

Pease help.

Hello Bruno,

Thank you very much for the provided screenshots. I understood this situation clearly from them, so please be sure that I will assist you to resolve the situation.

As far as I understand from error message in German, you're receiving RPC server is not available message when trying to start Non Stop Backup, is that correct?

If yes, this message means that Acronis Scheduler service and/or processes are not running properly. This service is responsible for executing scheduled tasks.

Please do the following to resolve the issue:

  • Make sure that Acronis Scheduler2 Service is Started and the Startup type is set to Automatic:
    • Click Start -> Run and type in services.msc;
    • In the Services window locate Acronis Scheduler2 Service;
    • Right-click on the service and select Properties in the pop-up menu;
    • In the invoked window set the Startup type to Automatic. Click OK;
    • Right-click on the service again and select Start in the pop-up menu.
  • If this does not help, please download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service, extract it and run install.bat. The utility will automatically update the service.

After that, please try running Non Stop Backup once again.

In first error message, your backup process has been crashed, probably due to the same scheduler issue.

Please let me know whether you are able to resolve the issue by following the instructions I provided above. Also, do not hesitate to ask me if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
