Acronis Uninstall Program

Thread needs solution

To install Acronis True Image Home 2012 I had to remove ACTH 2011. Even though the program had worked fine for a year I was told that the files were corrupted. I chatted online with an Aconis tech and he had me download a utility program from Acronis which I ran. He did point out the possiblity of getting the Blue Screen of Death. I did not get the BSOD, but since running it I have had problems with Windows XP. I keep getting messages about Standby.exe being a bad image file. Also other files come into view. ATIH 2011 was uninstalled, and ATIH 2012 installed and runs ok. What I want to know is what the utility file that Acronis provided did to Windows.

I have Windows XP Pro SP3 - fully updated. Intel Core 2 Quad CPT !9550 @2,83 GHz and 4 GB or RAM.

Alan,

Which Acronis cleaner program did you use the one for 2011 or 2012?

Do you still have the install CD for XP? If the worse comes to the worst you cna run a repair install from the CD, but it will wipe out any Windows updates and service packs that aren't already part of the XP CD. Alternately if you have an image from 2011 you could just restore that.
