activation followed by immediate and unspecified backup

I had the trial version of TI2010 and then purchased copy. I put in my activation code and TI immediately started performing an unspecfied system backup to a location that I did not specify (and do not want). I tried stopping the process and restarting TI, but it just did the same thing again.

Is this normal? What is TI backing up? Whyl can't I tell TI not to do this backup, or at least specify the destination?
