I have used the Scheduler which did make scheduling work but now getting afcdpsrv.exe fault errors.

Using 2010 build 5,055 see later build available. But on my registered product page upper right says I have 4 registered products but not 2010 from 11/6- only prior 3 (going back to 2006) are showing in main section, so can not get latest build. I have submitted ticket with Serial but might be helpful here of others are having the same fault problem:

afcdpsrv.exe faulting on 11/20 and 11/17
Nothing else odd going on at the time.. was just using Firefox on 11/20
Have to manually restart RPC server
Acronis 2010 Build 5,055

Have not had hanging problem with high CPU usage others report in the forum, just the faulting

Using Win XP SP3
Quad core Intel chip

I have a scheduled back up but at 1am so not the same time.

Hello David,

I will do my best to solve the issue but first can you please clarify if backup archives completed successfully despite of afcdpsrv.exe fault errors?

afcdpsrv service is responsible for Acronis Nonstop Backup  so first we should troubleshot this issue. The possible reasons for the issue can be the following:

·  The Nonstop Backup storage is on a USB drive, and the USB drive is disconnected from the machine;

·  The Nonstop Backup storage has been manually deleted;

·  The Nonstop Backup storage has been manually moved to a different partition;

·  The Nonstop Backup storage is on a partition of a local hard disk, and the drive letter of the partition has been changed;

·  The Nonstop Backup storage has been corrupted.

I would recommend you to follow the below steps to investigate the issue with Acronis Nonstop Backup.

·  If you have the Nonstop backup storage on a USB drive, make sure it is plugged in. The drive letter of the USB drive does not have to be the same as at the time of when the Nonstop backup was turned on. The product will discover the storage automatically;

·  If the Nonstop Backup storage has been manually deleted, it cannot be recovered;

·  If Nonstop Backup storage has been manually moved to a different partition, please move it back or copy to the original partition. The folder for the Nonstop backup storage is always in the root of the partition, and is called Time Explorer Storage. This is a hidden folder.

To view hidden folders in the system, do the following:

  • Open any partition in Windows Explorer;
  • Click Tools -> Folder options (you may need to press Alt first, to view the toolbar);
  • Click View. Under Hidden files and folders select Show hidden files, folders, and drives;
  • Click OK.

·  If the Nonstop Backup storage is on a partition of a local hard disk, and the drive letter of the partition has been changed, please change it back to the original. This can be done in Windows using Disk Management:

  • Hit Start-Run and type in diskmgmt.msc;
  • Right-click on the partition and click Change Drive Letter and Paths...
  • Click Change -> Assign the following drive letter, and select the drive letter as it was at the time when Acronis Nonstop Backup was running;
  • Click OK.

Regarding “The RPC server is unavailable” error the possible reasons for the issue are the following:

  1. The most frequent issue is that the Acronis Scheduler service and/or processes are not running properly. This service is responsible for executing scheduled tasks. See also Acronis Scheduler Manager;
  2. User account under which you are trying to schedule or run the task has an empty password;
  3. User account under which you are trying to schedule or run the task has limited privileges.

Solution

  1. Apply the solution from the RPC Server is Unavailable (Error Code: 1722) article;
  2. Create a password for the user account or try to run or schedule the task under a different account that has a password. See also Providing Credentials in Acronis True Image Schedule Task Wizard;
  3. Make sure the user, under which you trying to run the scheduled task, is a member of the Administrators group:
    1. Click Start ->Run;
    2. Type in compmgmt.msc and hit Enter;
    3. In the Computer Management window click Local Users and Groups -> Users;
    4. Right-click the user under which you are trying to run the task and select Properties. Click the Member Of tab. The Administrators group should be in the Member of list;
    5. If the user account is not a member of the Administrators group, add the account to the group:
      1. On the Member Of tab, click Add;
      2. In the Select Groups window type in Administrators;
      3. Click Check Names;
      4. Click OK.

Hello, I also get the message "RPC server not available". How do I restart the RPC server please? Or will the problem be solved if Acronis2010 is uninstalled and installed again?
