Anyone else have this problem? Microsoft is blaming Acronis TI for the problem. SOLVED
Update 10-28-15. It turned out to be a Microsoft problem. Because the TI images varied in age from 6-14 months old, there were many Win 7 updates. And the Microsoft servers were very slow. I left the computers searching for updates for over an hour, and then things worked. Acronis TI 2013 build 6514. Win 7 Pro 64 bit on one computer and Win 7 Pro 32 bit OS on another. After using the boot disk and installing a number of older FULL back-ups (from 6 months to a year) from an external Fantom or Seagate USB hard drive, on 2 different working fine computers, Windows 7 updates no longer works (the current computers with up to date Windows 7 updates do work). The green Win 7 update scroll bar just continues to look for updates. See capture below. Both computers were working fine at the time the 6-8 different FULL back-ups were made. But all other software including those that frequently update do work fine after installing the different back-ups. Kaspersky IS etc. An upper level tech from Microsoft took control of one computer and tried everything (fix it tool and major software over-writes) but couldn't fix the problem. They are saying that the TI back-up software caused the problem, but I don't believe that. Two different computers with two different TI licenses for TI 2013. And again, everything else works fine. Best guess is that the problem is due to some Win 7 update from the past that needs to be there in order to allow future updates, but I'm just guessing.

The Microsoft tech tried things for over 6 hours!! I'll give the SFC/scannow a try in the near future. But those things scare me as you never know if they create problems. But thanks for the suggestion. And i have tried all of the searches and forums. Nothing was helpful.

Tried SFC sannow and it fixed some files on both my working up to date OS system, and also on the older OS sysytems, that were recovered from TI images, that won't update Windows. No change in inability to update Windows on the OSs from restored images, but up to date OS works fine with Win updates. So still a mystery. I also just set up a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit dual SSD dual boot system, so I can easily experiment with any future suggestions. Working OS on one drive and failing to update windows OS on another drive.

For some unknown reason and after letting the update attempt look for updates for 1-2 hours, it started working. But not perfectly. Maybe it's time to switch to Apple?

In the end, MAYBE the problem was the Acronis software? Instead of using the software on the TI boot disk to delete all information on the destination SSD in the restore process, I first hooked up the destination SSD as a second drive, and used Disk Management in the OS to delete all partitions. So the entire drive became unallocated space. Then I created a new NTFS single partition and did a quick format. I then used the boot disk to restore the exact same image that I used previously that ended up with Windows 7 update problems. But this time Windows updates worked fine right off and found over 50 updates. My TI image was about 10 months old. In the end, it would take a lot of experimenting to have conclusive proof about the cause of the problem and I don't want to bother.
