Archive file corrupt?
I am trying to backup and restore Windows 7 pro 64. I have booted from the rescue media and done a backup and also installed directly to the machine and done a full backup. No matter what I do every backup file refuses to restore - it just gets started then fails and says the archive file is corrupt or some other form of bad file message - three different backup files. Tried both universal restore and standard restore. Suggestions?

I have tried about 8 different backups now - from the rescue media, from an installed version. I have tried backuing up to a USB drive and to a second SATA drive I hooked up. I scanned the source drive and both of the drives I am trying to back up to - same results every time. I can't believe it's anything with the computer.

Just to make sure, you are doing a full backup every time, right?
Are you restoring with the same media that produced the backup?

OK, this is CONFIRMED by me (read on) to be an issue with version 2014. So on the one hand I have a grumpy comment for Acronis - this is a bug, please check it out, grumpy that I paid for the latest version and can't use it. On the other hand I have a KUDOS comment for Acronis. I have been a customer since 2009 and have purchased the upgrades regularly and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for keeping all of these serial numbers and downloads immediately available to me in my account. I went into my account and downloaded version 2012 and tried it - worked perfectly first try. Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke I tried it with both the external and SATA drive, worked both times, then tried it again with 2014 - which barfed again.
So there is a version 2014 problem here somewhere, but the "issue" I have is resolved.
