ASZ Phantom Space consumed

Thread needs solution

ATIH 2010, 7046 installed with the plus pack. Vista SP2

I've got three or four backups that run at various times, one of which is a large backup of my Digital Photos. Currently this is the only thing that backs up to the ASZ. (The master photos are actually stored on a separate disk.)

The ASZ was originally 550GB and this morning the backup failed due to space exhaustion.

4 Information 8/22/2010 3:02:08 AM Create Incremental Backup Archive From: My Data To file: "asz:\Digital Photos_@date@" Compression: Normal
15 Error 8/22/2010 5:45:02 AM Failed to back up file or folder 'F:\Digital Photos\2008 Photos/2008-05-30 - Vacation/JPG/Vacation-D200-080530-7039.XMP'.Disk is full. (0x40004) Tag = 0xC4AB60A831327F4A: None
16 Error 8/22/2010 5:55:03 AM Disk is full. (0x40004) Tag = 0xC4AB60A831327F4A
17 Error 8/22/2010 6:40:13 AM Operation has completed with errors.

WHen I look at the ASZ in either ATI or via Vista, the only file that shows up is a single .tib for an older system backup (which should be approx. 150 - 180GB).

I don't see any of the previous Digital Photo .tib's in either the Tasks&Logs or the Recovery tab

I've gone in and grown the ASZ to 650GB, so now in Manage Acronis Secure Zone Wizard, the ASZ shows 655.8GB capacity and 276.4GB free.

At this point it appears that I have about 400GB unaccounted for.

Any ideas how I can get this back on track? I'd prefer to preserve the 1 systembackup that I have in the ASZ if possible.

Thanks

Hello Ray,

Thank you very much for your post and welcome to the forum. I will do my best to assist you.

Most likely the "phantom" space exists because of failed backups which for an unknown still take up space. As a workaround, you can try deleting the Acronis Secure Zone (please check page 123 of the User Guide) and re-creating it, after that we can monitor backup logs and see how it fills up.

To preserve your system backup, I can recommend either to mount the backup first and move the files somewhere, or explore the Acronis Secure Zone in Windows explorer and move the files. Please check page 136 of the User Guide for more detailed information.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
