ATH 2011 build has corrupted my default search provider
I just installled the latest build of ATH 2011 6574. I now cannot set Bing as my default search provider without getting the continuous message
"A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider.
Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers".
My system is Vista Home premium with IE 8. I had no problems with this until I updated Acronis to 6574. I have followed all suggestions/fixes with no success to resolve this including:
Editing the registry "AppData" string value.
Set IE 8 advanced setting to default.
Unchecked the box under IE's "Manage Add Ons" which states "prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider".
Reinstalled IE 8.
Remove/Add Bing serch provider.
I have tried the following llinks:

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threa…
I am forced to let Yahoo be my default provider and adding a new search provider temporarily and set it as the default still won't let me delete Yahoo search provider in order to attempt to set Bing as my default.
Cant Acronis developers send out patches without messing something else up?

Corey,
Does uninstalling 2011 cause Bing to work? Did you have an older build of 2011 installed before 6574?
I'm not sure how installing TI would effect IE8 as I'm not sure why TI would need to hook into a web browser at this moment.
Do other search providers still work?
I wouldn't do too much registry fiddling as you may end up with a worse problem than you've got now.
Did Windows perform any updates between IE8 working properly and now?
Which OS are you using?
I suspect that whatever is causing your IE8 problem may be the culprit with Outlook as well. Have you performed a deep scan with your A/V checker?

As mentioned I am using Vista Home Premium w/IE8.
The system had alll MS updates installed prior to updating to build 6574.
Other search providers worked ok but I couldn't configure them the way I wanted as I mentioned.
I did remove/reinstall ATI build 6574 with no success THE FIRST TIME.
After removing and reinstalling the second time now everything is back to normal including Outlook 2007.
So, it is definately an issue with Acronis.
May I suggest that you change the procedure to install ALL Home Image products when users click on "check for updates" from the Help menu you instruct them to uninstall the whole app, then download and install the newest version from your website. It appears your product can't be depended on to just perform a build update withouth doing this first.
Why though would I have to remove it twice before the update worked?
