ATI 2013 - (6514) Backing up EFS encrypted folder decrypted does not work

Thread needs solution

Backing up EFS encrypted folder decrypted does not work on Windows 8 Pro x64.

It throws an access denied error. I am aware that it is a problem with every new True Image version out there, some seems to be resolved with some patched upgrades, but why it pops up again with every new version is something makes me wonder.

Which build does this problem relate to?

The error is there in the build 6514. When you set up a file backup and want to store the file in a decrypted state, the backup fails on EFS encrypted files.

Confirming that I also have this issue in Windows 8 Professional x64. Backup will work if do not tick the option for "In backups, store encrypted files in decrypted state.", but this isn't what I want.

Error in popup is simply "Failed to backup file or folder"

If I open the log, I see Access to the file or folder is denied. (0x40014). I've also tried using the "Run backup as different Windows user" option without any luck. I've tested this on more than one machine running Windows 8.

I am on build 6514 of True Image 2013.

I discovered the same problem. It started already with the 2011 version. I opened a ticket in September 2011 and it was solved in June 2012 (ticket 00868046_EFS).
Now when I wanted to switch to Windows 8 I was smart enough to test all the needed functionality before the switch.
Same Problem with the 2013 Version. Again I opened a ticket in March 2013.
In both cases it took me 2-3 weeks to get pass the first level support, who do not really understand the functionality of their own product as they seem to have no idea about EFS encrypted files. Ugh...

In both cases I created a VM that I uploaded to one of their FTP servers that contains the error.

Their seems to be a serious problem with the testing phase in the development process, as this happens over and over again.
