ATI 2014 - start program without admin rights

Thread needs solution

Hello,

we are using Acronis True Image Home for restoring files from existing backup files or create backups from external hard drives. We dont use ATI 2014 for creating backups from the pc where the software is installed. It's only our "management" software for managing our backup files.

Our users has only "user" rights, no local admin rights. If he open ATI 2014 always the UAC is showing.

Is it possible to use ATI with normal user rights if we do not backup our pc and use the software only to restore files from existiong backup files or create backups from external hard drives?

If this is not possible with ATI 2014, is it possible with ATI 2016?

Thanks and Greeting

Hello, I was only able to find a KB document in this area for ATIH 2015 but I am certain that the same account requirements will apply to either ATIH 2014 or 2016 versions, as this really is a Windows User Account authority & permissions issue.

See KB https://kb.acronis.com/content/16336 for the document.

The only method that I can think of that would allow you to get past the UAC prompt, would be to boot the computer from the ATIH 2014 Rescue / Recovery media (CD or USB stick) when all operations are conducted outside of Windows.

You might be able to create a scheduled task that runs under a different elevated account (service account) and create a shortcut to manually kick off the scheduled task (.bat file) that any user could double click to start.  The following forum links to the method for creating such a scheduled task and shortcut.

Here's another external link with the details for creating such a task as well:

Thanks you Steve and Bobbo.

I will have a look  at this links and if this is not working we have to use the rescue cd/usb stick as steve mentioned.
