ATI and ADDS mutualy incompatible, crashing and failing to start in their latest builds
Hello,
I bought True Image 2010 Home 6029_s and Disk Director Suite 10.0.2239_s five days ago and am therefore using the LATEST BUILDS. I run an up to date Windows XP Pro SP3.
I chose Acronis' software thinking more than 10 versions and a lot more builds would provide me with rock solid stability. I am in the middle of reinstalling my system, a process that is already driving me crazy and tired. This, by the way, means - and I guarantee that - my system is CLEAR of any virus, missing or corrupted system files which might cause this issue.
The last thing I was expecting was
1. True Image crashing and failing to start (!!) if I install True Image first then Disk Director, or
2. both True Image and Disk Director crashing and failing to start (!!!) if I install Disk Director first then True Image (following the advice of a certain Mr. Tarun Kumar from Acronis' online chat support team gave me three days ago).
So, no matter in which order I install them, I end up with at least one of the two programs crashing and failing to start.
If, like Mr. Kumar wrote in our chat: "not all customers are facing the issues" and "this is due to some functional dependency", I guess it is probably because they are running previous builds and haven't updated yet, luckily for them!
The issue is reputed "known" on the release notes of the build latest ATI build.

I also noticed that the process TrueImageMonitor.exe would not stop normally when I restart or turn off my computer. I had to terminate the process manually. This issue is probably related to the above but I prefer to mention it anyway.
My only question to Acronis was and still is WHEN (!), WHEN can they release NEW BUILDS that will fix this issue. Needless to say I feel slightly outraged for I cannot even use software I already paid for. I should have tested them before buying.
I certainly do not want to read what Mr. Kumar wrote, that is :
- that, "as it is a known issue, so would be fixed in next release" - like I didn't know that.
- that "there is no fixed time frame, but will be released soon" - no kidding, soon? Great! Just what I needed to hear, thanks a million!
- in other words, that there is no way for the support department to give me even an estimated release date.
I just bought two pieces of software from the same company, which are MUTUALLY INCOMPATIBLE (!) and which I happen to need urgently.
It has been several days I submitted my first query on this issue to the support department, through their support form and through their chat service. All I got was automated receipt acknowledgement and useless information.
Will this post be reviewed by Acronis development team, probably not. I desperately try to have an idea of the debugging status, so as to know if the next releases should occur roughly in two days, two weeks or one month and whether or not I should claim my money back.

Thanks Colin!
I appreciate your contribution. I will try to proceed according to your advice and give feedback as to the outcome.

I just scrupulously followed Colin's advice, step by step. Having cleaned-up my computer using Acronis Cleanup Utility - I even added to that one sweep from JV16 PowerTools 2009 - I reinstalled ADDS and ATI in the specified order.
- ADDS did start at the end of its installation.
- I then rebooted and installed ATI. At the end of the installation, I rebooted again at the prompt.
RESULT: back to square ONE! Just like before, both programs now crash when I try to start them!
Who would have any clue as to WHEN new builds are scheduled for release?
