ATI Home 10 bootable CD problem
WinXP SP2
ATI Home 10, Build 4942
External USB drive, MyBook 500GB
I've been backing up my drives to the external USB MyBook 500GB drive for a couple of years. Never had a reason to restore any of the backups until now.
When I run backups it creates TIB files with a maximum file size of 4.5GB so I can burn them to DVDs if I have to.
Problem #1
---------------
When I boot with the rescue CD with the external USB drive plugged in I get Starting Acronis Loader..., Select Acronis TrueImage Home (Full Version), splash screen, and then a blank screen that never goes away. System is hung up and I have to hit the reset button.
If I remove the external USB drive and boot with the rescue CD then Aconis loads but obviously I don't hav access to the external USB drive. Even if I plug the external drive in it doesn't appear in the list of recognized drives.
Anbody know how I can boot the rescue CD and have it recognize the external USB drive?
Problem #2
---------------
I thought I could solve the problem by burning the TIB files to DVDs. First TIB file is 4.5GB, second is 2.6GB. The backup verification passes on the second DVD, fails on the first. It's almost like the file format on the first DVD is invalid.
Anybody know why the large file on the first DVD fails verification?
Solved the problem for now.
------------------------------------
For now I cleared enough space on drive D: to copy the two TIB files from the external USB drive. The two files are for drive C:. Disconnected the external USB drive, booted the rescue CD, and restored drive C: from the two files on drive D:. Verification passed and drive C: was restored.
Obviously this is not the solution I want to use, just thought I'd add it for information.
By the way, these problems don't appear to exist on my WinXP SP3, ATI Home 2010, and the same external USB drive.
Thanks,
Mike
