ATI Home 11 hangs during backup, booted from ATI CD.

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to create a full backup image of a new HP Touchsmart TX2 laptop. Using ATI Home 11, build 8,101. Booted to ATI CD, attempted full backup of C: & D: drives to external USB HDD. Backup hangs within first 15 minutes. External HDD stops showing activity, ATI does not respond to cancel button.

Attempted backup as above using different USB external HDD (both are WD, and have been used to backup other laptops using ATI Home 11 in the past). Backup hangs within 15 min.

Installed SnapAPI 337. Tried same as above. First backup operation shows approx. 70% complete then hangs.

Ran chkdsk c:, found bitmap errors (on a new PC?). Ran chkdsk /f. Windows reports problem resolved. Ran chkdsk c: again, windows found no errors.

Tried backup as above, backup still hangs within first 15 min.

I'm running out of ideas here. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, I've got my retail CD for ATI Home 11 that I purchased at Best Buy, but can't find the jacket with the serial # printed on it. I did install ATI Home 11 on my desktop. Is there anyway to recover my serial # from the desktop install?

Thanks for the help!

I guess your new HP is running Win7 and TI11 may not be able to recognise the win7 disk format.

Oh, sorry. Forgot to mention the laptop is running Vista (probably 64bit Home). Dual core AMD Turion processor. I've used ATI Home 11 to backup similar systems (laptops running 64 bit Vista, external USB HDD as backup target) with no problems. Granted this is the first time I've bought an HP... Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Jimson,
You are unable to retrieve the license key from the desktop install.  Could you please provide us with the digital copy of the invoice or the receipt? Also please send us the photos of the box and the CD made by means of your  digital camera. please send the required information via  Private Message.
After that I will be able to provide you with an ISO file to create another Acronis Bootable Media based on an alternate loader.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
