ATI Home 2010 build 7154 should I upgrade from 7046?

Thread needs solution

Before I upgrade to ATI Home 2010 (build 7154) has anyone out there who was using ATI Home 2010 (build 7046) had any major (or minor) issues?

I much prefer using ATI Home 2010 as it is **much** more reliable and a lot clearer than 2011 especially for task and schedule management etc

Also the dreaded validation that (can) take forever on 2011 does not occur with 2010.

Does anyone have anything to share on any noticeable different behavior between build 7046 and build 7154 of True Image Home 2010?

Bottom line - should I upgrade?

I had gone back to 2010 because 2011 failed in various ways. The 2011 update in fact made an existing problem worse.

2010 - 7046 works fine and I foolishly applied the update to 7154. This resulted in failed scheduled backups.

I have now gone back to 7046 and everything is OK. Not sure what the Acronis thinking is on updates, but my experience is that they generally introduce new problems and don't cure the existing ones. I'm using XP Sp3 by the way. My advice is if 2010 - 7046 is working OK for you, don't change anything.

I, too, foolishly "updated" my XP SP3 machine from TrueImage 2010 build 7046 (full image backups were working fine) to 7154, which also resulted in failed scheduled backups. I even uninstalled 2010, cleaned registry entries and did a fresh 7154 install--same results: failed scheduled backups.

I've been using Acronis TrueImage backup for a few years, versions 10 through 2010. On a positive note, the software saved my butt several times. However, I have encountered so many problems with the differential, incremental and continuous backup features that I gave up on all but the full backup option. Based on my experience, all backup options except the full image backup are problematic, unstable and unreliable. Now it seem as though the updates are also becoming unreliable.

With the exception of full image backups, TrueImage is, in my experience, one of the most unpredictable programs I have ever used. Just what one needs in a backup program--unpredictability!

If your machine and TIH 2010:7046 is working fine for you, then stay with what you have. If you start to get problems, then download the latest build and see if that solves them, for you.

Good advice - you never know with Acronis if the latest version is a step backwards ;-)

Ill stick with 7046 - I'm not going near ATI Home 2011 until it starts to remember it's settings when you change them and press save! (It does not remember for instance the validation setting for default backup jobs! If you select "None" for default (and press save) then the next new backup has validation still set to "Once a month"

One day I look forward to a properly tested released product - like the good old days of ATI Echo v9 etc

If v9 (ATI Echo) were to install on a Windows 7 machine I would not need to look for another version....

ATI Home 2010 build 7046 is, well, .... "OK" ... in that it does work for me on my setups - but I know there are others who don't share this experience!

It is kinda of bad but I am using 2010 build 7046 and I will not use it for anything but image backups/restores. It works fine (only bug I have is that it shows destination drive to be running out of space when it is not true and I just override).
So I keep it simple and everything works for me.

Okay, I have ATI Home 2010 Plus Pack version 7046. I've downloaded and ran the update package for 7154. I've completed the reboots after each install. But every time I start ATI back up it still shows me at version 7046 and prompts me again to update to version 7154.

Has anyone else encountered this problem. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit OS on a Dell Studio 15 laptop.

Ava, if you haven't already done so, check out some of the above posts. Perhaps your computer is doing you a favor refusing to update to 7154. :) Build 7154 has caused problems for several people, including me, on XP and Win 7 machines.

Good luck!

Ava,
When you update a plus pack installation, you must first update the standard install and afterwards instll the matching plus pack so there are two separate installs to complete.
