ATI Home V11 and SATA problem -request ISO image of build 8102

Thread needs solution

Last August I moved ATI v11 (build 8022) to my new PC which has only SATA drive. Until this week it has been working fine. (Backup location is external USB drive.)

But this week ATI suddenly returns the error, E000101F4: Failed to read data from the disk. (sector2048). I then tried the bootable CD, which doesn't see the SATA disk all. (This is the first try of the bootable CD.)

I download the latest (build 8101) executable and it works fine.

I would like to download (or create) an ISO image of the latest version. Other posts mention that Acronis is making these available to registered users such as myself. Can I get a download link so I can make an updated bootable CD?

As a second question, I am really curious how the old version has been working for 5 months now. (By working, I mean creating multi-Gb backup image files which also verify.) The only thing that changed since my successful backup last week was the installation of this month's latest Hi Priority patches from Microsoft.

Thank you.

The bootable CD is Linux and likely does not have the proper driver for your disk, actually the disk controller.

You can make your own bootable CD from the installed build 8101. Look for something like create rescue media in the menus.

It is funny the old one did work under Windows and then failed. The error does look like a disk read error but sometimes TI error msgs aren't overly specific and the fact it is sector 2048 could make it similar to the commonly seen failed to read from sector 63 errors if you disk was formatted by Vista or Windows 7 (?).

In any case, I'd try running chkdsk C: /r on the partition to see if it picks up anything.
