ATI uninstall kills Win7 Backup

Thread needs solution

My Windows 7 64 bit Backup no longer works, after uninstalling ATI Home 2011. I can neither backup or restore my system. And I place the blame squarely on Acronis.

I uninstalled ATI because I got fed up with the "Operations are in progress. Please wait." which was delaying ny shutdown/restart.

How do I restore my native Windows 7 backup?

Gaslad,

What build of 2011 were you using? The early two builds didn't de-integrate correctly, but all later builds should.

There are two options: If you were not using the latest build of 2011, download and install it, click on the de-integrate option and Windows Backup will be available again. The second option is to fiddle with some registry settings.

Thanks, Colin.

I'm not sure, but I think I had the latest build of ATI Home 2011: update 3 (build 6942). The only installer I have is ATIH2011_trial_en-US.exe (created May 26, 2011).

I paid for this program, and it has caused me nothing but grief.

Where do I go from here?

I believe this fix changes the registry back, http://kb.acronis.com/content/14741. I'm not at home at the moment so don't have the exact link for manually playing with registry.

OK.

Bear in mind that this is the 2nd time I have waltzed with this bug, and am getting fed up.
All I want is to restore my Windows 7 backup utility, and to uninstall ATI.

In my "Downloads" I see ATIH2011_6942_en-US.exe

Is this the build I want to install/uninstall?

Well yes, or you could download the zip file in the link and that should also do the trick.
