ATI2015 on Win 8.1 Intel I7 system with a Crucial MX200 SSD

Thread needs solution

Using ATI2015 on Win 8.1 Intel I7, ASUS X99 Deluxe, USB3.1 system with a Crucial MX200 SSD hangs the system with 100% Disk activity but no i/o.
System OK when ATI2015 uninstalled!

Drive was purchased this month & already is using MU02 firmware (checked with Crucial).

Can you backup by booting off the rescue media?
Creating bootable rescue media: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2015/index.html#…

If the backup works by booting off the rescue media, the issue is related to ATI 2015 running under Windows.

I do not really know. I would think that it would probably work OK, but its not very helpful - system does not work with Acronis installed, which is what I want.

The Crucial forum had several people that experienced the same problem.

Hi,

my 20 cents

II can confirm that ATIH 2015 has an issue with Crucial MX100 and 200 series, when using it on Win 8 and 10 .
symptom is mostly "hang, but not freeze" , "searching forever", "unable to do something on screen, but mouse still moving".

After several test, restore, full install (Win 10 + just Acronis installed), etc , it seems that stopping 2 services is a workaround :
- Acronis NonStop backup
- Acronis Agent

While nonstop backup service is used for cloud backup (and can be safely disabled if not used), I will validate/confirm tonight the stability of the computer.

regarding Acronis agent test, I will re-enable it tonight, to evaluate if acronis agent could be responsible of hanging.

regards,

LD

Thanks Federic. This is very useful to know.
I look forward to the results of your tests.

Well I am back with results :

It seems with both services disabled, computer did not hang for more than 24h.

then I started a second step in testing phases :
I ran a backup to be sure to be able to use the product :
The backup was successful, but It seems I let Acronis opened all the day and computer hang.

Then last night till now I tested again the computer running, but without Acronis opened : no hang, and having disabled also the last service "Acronis scheduler2 Service".

My first thought is the issue is related to scheduler2 service , which seems required anyway to execute backup or restore.

on my side, I still have one thing to do now : update my firmware on my MX 100 and 200, they still are on the old u1 .

plan is : update firmware, re-enable schedule2 service (and also find info on its use), and let computer active for 24h (anyway if it has to crash, it is in less than 4h by experience on my side).

I keep informed.

I have several PCs. On my "Vista box" from 2007, I have ATI 2013. This PC has a Crucial MX100 SSD. If I upgrade to ATI 2013 while still running Vista, am I likely to have a problem, or is it just with W8 + W10?
Joe

Joe - as far as I know, this problem only occurs with ATI 2015, in combination with an SSD, an Intel CPU and W8(possibly) - I have an AMD system with an MX100 SSD on W7 which is OK. My Intel system is currently running OK, but with Macrium Reflect s/w instead of ATI 2015.

Mark, I miswrote- I meant to say I was planning to upgrade ATI 2013 to ATI 2015. I'll keep that PC running Vista. It has an Intel CPU. I installed the Crucial MX100 SSD back in the early spring of this year.
Joe

I see - I think that the main problems in this equation are first ATI2015, then Intel CPU - I think that ATI2014HD (that came with the SSD), on the same system was OK.

Well result is same, Mu02 or Mu01 does not change the result.

I have no hang as described above, until I run a backup, and it s finished successfully.

Then I will run backup manually with an automated restart , until acronis/microsoft find a solution.

For me, cpu, and crucial are not directly responsible of the issue, since it was working fine on the same config under win7.

Hi, I am back with workaround I use for now until problem resolution :
I keep using Acronis because it still does its job correctly regarding backup restore and full dr.

regarding backup : well, I configure the backup task to execute backup, then shutdown computer immediately.
This works fine, and prevents having win10 freezed.

regarding restore : I still have to look if it is possible to do the same (reboot or shutdown after restore - aka partial restore, not full restore).

services configuration :
Acronis nonstop backup : disabled
Acronis agent : disabled
Acronis schedule2 : manual (this one starts when opening TIH)
