ATIH 2011 Rescue Media Boots, but TI (full system) crashes while loading
I reported this in another thread, but wanted to elevate it to its own topic.
I have attempted to use the Bootable Rescue Media (CD) from versions 5519 and 6574 with no success. I have created the CD both from the application's Tools menu and by downloading the ISO and burning it directly to CD. Both behave identically. Here are the symptoms:
1) Booting the CD after a PC power cycle - The CD loads and presents the selection menu. Mouse functionality is availble.
2) Booting the CD after a reset/Windows 7 restart (i.e. power wasn't cycled) - The CD loads and presents the selection menu. Mouse functionality IS NOT available. Must use keyboard navigation.
3) When selecting ATIH (Full system) from the rescue main screen, the software starts loading. Eventually the screen goes black (nothing is displayed on the blank screen), and the system performs a BIOS level reboot (as if I had pressed the reset button). Also when selecting the System Report option the CD blinks for a while (loading the program), then the screen goes black and a BIOS level boot occurs.
I have tried disconnecting all USB-connected devices to no avail.
My ATIH 2010 Rescue Boot disk works fine. Is there any way to debug this issue and configure the rescue disk to my hardware? I must have bootable rescue media.
Very disappointed by this.

I just used the rescue CD builder tool to create a rescue CD that contains both the "Full Version" and "Safe Mode" programs. The safe mode ATIH loads and runs fine, but I cannot browse the network to access the backup files on my NAS. The "Full Verion" program reboots my PC while loading.

Any ideas how to resolve this? Acronis? If no response, I'm SOL and will need to find another workable backup/recovery solution.
I've tried building the CD using several boot options, but the documentation (in "help") for the boot options is a bit sketchy and may not be working. Its hard to tell. I'd run a "System Report" and submit it for analysis, but the System Report also crashes my PC when loading.

OK... I'm thoroughly frustrated beyond belief. I cannot get the ATIH Rescue CD (build 5519 ISO) to boot on my PC with Full System version, and the Safe mode is useless to me. I didn't have these issues with the 2010 Rescue iso.
So how do I get the Plus Pack so I can try to create the WinPE type of rescue CD? I refuse to pay for it since its basic functionality (the boot CD) I should have gotten with the base product.
I give this one or two more days and then I punt on Acronis completely and go a different direction. I've used Acronis for a number of years now, mostly without issue.... But I have to say i've wasted 100x the price of the upgrade trying to get it to work.

Since I'm the only one who wants to post in this thread, I'll close it out as follows. I gave up on the Linux-based rescue CD approach, and with Yana's help in getting me the Plus Pack, I was able to build a WinPE ISO with Acronis 2011 that boots and runs fine. It took a number of hours to get the Windows AIK downloaded, installed, and learn how to build a WinPE environment customized to my hardware with correct network drivers, but in the end, I can now do scheduled backups to my NAS and restore from them using the rescue boot media.
Now on to the task of actually using the software. :-)

I will post to report that the latest build 6597 has not solved this problem. The Full Version will not load. That is what brought me to this Forum. I just upgraded to the 2011 version and find I cannot use it. The 2010 version loads fine. I have been a long time user of ATI for several versions and this is the first that will not load from a bootable CD. I have turned in a support request.

I just read your thread, maybe it resurfaced because of your recent post. My HP all-in-one does the same thing. It seems to be computer specific, because the Rescue Media CD I created with the HP will boot fine in a Lenovo Notebook but not on the HP.

Bubba, & CurlySir,
Try downloading the "Bootable Media" option from your personal registration page. Buirn it as an image onto a blank CD.
Thiis alternate rescue CD uses different drivers and may work on your HP.

That is what I did and it does not work, I plan to load the ATI on a spare system and create a disk and see if that disk will work. I have tried it on 3 different computers so far with the same error.

I loaded the full version and the Plug ins and the Plus Pack and created a bootable rescue disk iso with all 3 options, full, safe, and system report on the iso. I then burned this to a CD. For whatever reason this CD will boot into the full version without any problems. The downloaded iso would not work. Don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. The iso is not a BartPE but Rescue Media created from within the program. Don't have a clue as to why it works put it does. EDIT: I have now discovered (see next post) that the Plus Pack is the difference.

When I recently upgraded to ATI 2011 they had the free Plus Pack offer. When I downloaded the iso I first downloaded the standard ATI 2011 iso and it would not boot. After loading the full version with Plug ins and the Plus Pack, I went back to the download page and downloaded the iso under the Plus Pack tab and burned it to a CD. The Plus Pack CD will boot and works like it should. I first thought they were the same because the size was identical but when I started the download they have different names. Acronis needs to fix the regular boot disk iso or make the the Plus Pack iso available to everyone.

I could not get any of the ISO's to boot on my PC. I have other PC's that will boot fine. Apparently the Linux kernel included on the iso's vary from build to build and its likely a Kernel incompatibility. Yana helped me take advantage of the Plus Pack offer, and I was able to use the Plus Pack to build a WinPE boot disk that works fine.

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your posts and your help. I would like to assist you with resolving this issue.
In order to resolve it we will need diagnostic information collected from the bootable media. I would really appreciate if you could send it to me via a private message so that I can forward it to our Testing lab.
There are 2 ways that you can try collecting it:
1. Generating Acronis System Report from Acronis Bootable Media without Booting into GUI.
2. If #1 fails, please use the following method. After the bootable media loads into the menu which has the options to start Acronis True Image Home or boot into Windows, press the F11 key. Remove the word quite in the pop-up and press OK. Then, click on Acronis True Image Home and the bootable media will start booting into shell instead of GUI. For our troubleshooting, we will need pictures (taken with a digital camera for example) of all the commands there.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Thanks for the offer of support. The real problem here is I cannot get far enough into the kernel boot process from the CD to generate either a system report or TIH Full System. I can't get ANY messages on the console to take a photograph of. For example If I boot the CD to the main menu screen, press F11, erase the "Quiet" option from the pop-up, then select either System Report or Acronis TI (Full System), after a few seconds of CD flashing (reading the disk I assume to start loading the kernel), my screen goes blank (black), a flashing cursor appears for a brief few seconds.... then the system simply reboots. No messages whatsoever are displayed on the screen. If I generate a CD that contains the Safe Mode version, that program will load and run OK.
This is about the most I can tell you at the moment except perhaps that my CD is currently build 6597 burned from the latest downloaded plus-pack ISO (or built using the embedded Recovery CD generator).
I'm perfectly happy with the WinPE solution I have working now and don't really need the Linux based ISO. However I'm fine with troubleshooting the ISO issue if you want to pursue it further.
