ATIH 2012: incremental backup of Samsung pro840 SSD not working (solved)
Hi,
I use ATIH 2012 for all my backups.
I recently got a Samsung 840 pro SSD (256 GB) to replace my C partition.
The installation was Ok and I run W7 ultimate X64.
The problem:
I make all backups via ATIH 2012. I use a full - incremental backup cycle (1 full, 2 incremental).
The problem is when I check the content of the last backup I made today, I do not find all the software (programs) I recently installed, and it is systematic (I checked old backups and it seems that the problem is already here).
So, what is goint wrong with SSD backups? Surely there is a problem.
Notice that when I check the backup files sizes, the incremental ones are always of 16 Mbytes (??)
The full backups files seem to have the good size.
In order to check more precisely, I deleted all my old backups and made a new full backup from my SSD just 10 minutes ago and checked the content:
Result: many programs I recently installed are missing in the backup!!!.
I make my backups on a separate disk in a standard partition.
Thanks for any support. There is a major issue here for me.

Patrice,
A full backup comes in 3 flavors. File backup. Partition Backup. Disk Backup. Which version are you using?
As MVP Tuttle has suggested, make a new task pointing to a new folder but use configuration settings listed in link #2 below.
Within the guide is figure 11-Inc. Change the 6 incremental example to your 2 incrementals and set the store no more than 4 chains to whatever number of chains (1 full plus 2 incs=3 files per chain) you want to keep and rotate.
These settings will produce a full and complete disk backup of everything.

Hi,
I finally solved my problem:
The reason why there was a problem was that I made a copy of my C partition from my disk to my SSD.
After that, I deactivated the partition on my disk, but kept it "as is".
The fact that I did not save anything is that acronis still pointed to my old partition on my disk and not the new one on my SSD (the partition names are the same and it appears that acronis keeps the old C partition reference instead of the new C one on my SSD (despite the old partition had no letter now).
Now that I changed the backup parameters, things are OK.
Thank you for attention and any suggestion that was given in this thread.
Patrice.
