ATIH 2012 keeps duplicating backups

Thread needs solution

I've got a brand new computer running Windows 7 that is connected to a 2TB networked external drive ...
I am trying to make a backup of the drive while the computer is still 'fresh out of the box' ...

When I create a backup, ATIH 2012 is either duplicating the backup several times or splitting it up into several files ...

For example, I created a Full backup of my C: Drive partition (which is approximately 30GB of used space). I called the backup Base Platform .... afterward I go in an see it has created Base Platform, Base Platform2 .. all the way to Base Platform6.
The first 5 are the same size files, the last is about half the file size (which makes me think its splitting the backup) ...

How do I stop it from doing this ?? I have PLENTY of storage space for it to put the file in whole and not have to split it up (only currently utilizing about 60GB out of the 2TB) ... it even does this when I put the backup onto a 64GB flash ... again, my overall backup size is around 30GB, and its compressing it (under normal compression) to around 22GB, so why break it up ??????? ....

I've used the 2006 ATIH v10 for years and have always LOVED it ... only upgraded to 2012 because my new system runs Win7 and the v10 won't detect the disks ....

Why is that ?? ..... Can that be resolved too ? ..

I didn't do any research before buying ATIH 2012 .... but now seeing all the issues people seem to have with it, I am not sure it was the right choice .............

Helllooooo ... *tap *tap *tap .. is this thing on ????????

I've been reading through a bunch of the threads on here, and it seems like ATIH 2012 is a real mess ........... and I still cannot find any threads pertaining to my issue, which has me very concerned what the next issue I might have to deal with will be ....

I don't know .. I bought mine from Best Buy just the other day. I think I'll give this post the rest of the day to see if anyone responds with a suggestion, otherwise I think I'll be bringing it back in the morning for a refund .....

See the User Guide - Section 3.11.8 - Backup Splitting. Or go to http://www.acronis.com/download/docs/atih2012/userguide (PDF format). Just select the option for none and you'll get backup to a single *.tib file. You can set that as the default (maybe, if ATIH cooperates) but you'll need to modify it in any backup tasks you've already created.

The first 5 are the same size files, the last is about half the file size (which makes me think its splitting the backup)

What is the size of the same size files?

There are some file size limitations for certain types of networking. Knowing the file size may help others to recognize this limitation.

You can certainly check the "archive splitting" options within the backup task. Also, If the target disk is a FAT32 file system, the single file size cannot exceed. 4 GB. A NTFS partition does not have this size limitation.

... is it possible to consolidate the split archive backups into one single file (after the fact) ??

yOUR BEST BET IS TO MAKE ONE NEW FILE WITHOUT FILESPLITTING.
