ATIH2010 update halts quickly with Error 1606 - Cannot access network location
Here's a seemingly easy fix with a be-deviling solution which still eludes me. When updating ATIH2010 to latest build, the process halts very soon after beginning. Dialog box complains about not finding:
%ProgramFiles%\Common\.
Review of the MSI log lists several occurrences of an Error 1606 - Cannot access network location. (This is a local installation on my desktop)
The problem is apparent to me --ATHI2010 cannot handle resolving the %ProgramFiles% variable into an fully-qualified folder name --in this case D:\Program Files. It is doubly apparent for I am the one who, in an attempt to move my Program Files dir to another drive, got a bit carried away and replaced all occurrences of D:\Program Files with %ProgramFiles% in the registry.
Working my way out of this over-exuberance, I have insured that all value data in the registry that includes %ProgramFiles% and \Acronis\ has been set back to an absolute reference to D:\Program Files\....
Sadly, the Error 1606 still persists preventing both normal execution of ATIH2010 as well as the update setup.
Anyone have an idea of which related keys required by Acronis (but not containing \Acronis\ I should examine and set back to D:\Program Files\? I am presuming that it would be a sub-key of D:\Program Files\Common Files\ but my attempt to set all such keys back to an absolute folder reference has not brought sunshine my way -- still Error 1606 blocks execution.
Thankfully, only two of my commonly-used apps (Reg Mechanic and Nuance Naturally Speaking) croak on the use of %ProgramFiles%. These were made whole again by resetting nine or so key values in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Currentversion\Installer\.... section back to an absolute reference.
Appreciate any tips you may have.
Thanks
Dave

Thanks Yana for the welcome and the quick reply. I ran PROCMAN and then started the ATIH installer from the latest build of ATIH2010 twice, once at 4:38 pm and again at 7:10 pm. I am attaching the results (PROCMAN csv for the appropriate PIDs and the MSI log files for that same time frames.
Thanks for the tip about using PROCMAN for it appears to be a good tool for capturing runtime stats. It seemed just the thing to find the source of the %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\ error, so I dove in, correlated the time marks for the Error 1606 messages in the MSI logs with the action happening at the same time marks in the output from PROCMAN and was sure the answer would be obvious. I was wrong.
It appears that action corresponding to the Error 1606 entries is concerning with enumerating a PCI key related to my two video cards (ATI Radeon 3850 and ATI Radeon 4600) which leaves me at a dead end for I can't imagine how those enums relate to %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\.
So, I must defer to your superior knowledge and be in your debt for finding the solution for me.
Thanks for taking a look at the logs. (If you want the complete dump from PROCMAN, I can send them as well. I have sent only the line items related to the PID of execution of the ATIH2010 install program.)
Look forward to your reply,
Dave

Hello Dave!
Thank you for keeping us posted, and for your detailed reply, I appreciate it. Yes, I would like to take a look at the logs. They might be of a big size, which will make it difficult to upload them to Forum, so I'll contact you via PM with the link to our FTP server.
Let me know once the logs are there.
Thank you for cooperation!
