back-up and verification to storage space duplicated drive in Windows 8

Using the storage space function in Windows 8, I created a 'drive' out of two identical drives (a kind of RAID 1 through Windows 8). When backing up other partitions to this drive, I get error messages indicating drive flaws. Looking at the log, I see 'failure to read'. I think this indicates failure in the verification process.

Would appreciate knowing if anyone else is successful or is having issues in backing up and verifying to storage space drives.

Follow-up...I did a disk back-up to the storage space drive and then did verification afterwards...no problem. The issue clearly involves doing a verification as part of the initial set of backup instructions. Unfortunate...seems I remember similar problems from previous versions...
